Qualify for Senior Rate ????

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else been told they qualify as a "Senior" when they will be 3 months shy of turning 55 at the time of the cruise? Supposedly RCCL lowered our price thru our Travel Agent to include my DH as a "senior" when he will only be 54 3/4.

To the OP, I would personally check this with RCCL. They are checking senior/resident discounts at the pier and charging back pax who don't qualify for them, but were given them anyway. I'm not saying that RCCL didn't give you the discount, however, I would rather know up front and not be surprised by a surcharge at the pier.

The age is 55, at least 1 person in your cabin must be 55 and then you qualify for the Senior Discount. I do understand that they are checking to make sure at the dock that the Senior Disocunt has only been used by someone over 55 andI have red on this board that people have been charged the higer rate at the dock if in fact they are not 55! Be very sure that you actually do qualify for the Senior Rate BEFORE you get to the dock and are embarassed, what a way to ruin your cruise. Search for other threads on this board regarding this for more info.

Then we sail on the Serenade to HAWAII! ALOHA!

Driftychick is right, one person in each cabin has to be at least 55 at the time of sailing. I didn't even ask about a senior discount when I called to make reservations, but my on-the-ball TA noticed from my husband's birthdate that we were eligible (and here I was thinking he was only 54--we never can keep track of our ages!)... LOL...

It is my understaning also that not every cruise qualifies for Sr. Discount......I may be wrong but I think this is correct.
