Majestic Princess review

She's been sailing in Asia, which she was built for. She's not marketed to us in the Western Hemisphere. Next fall she will be spending the summer in OZ. Maybe if you ask on the OZ/NZ board here someone might have gone north and sailed her. EM

Greetings,

We are booked on the Majestic on the March 2nd, 2019 sailing out of Auckland and have noticed in checking there are no recent reviews of the ship - the count remaining at 66 reviews for months now. We were wondering why there have been no recent updates - because of the market served? Because the customers in that region do not read or submit reviews? Seems odd to have a large ship sailing like this with so many unfavorable reviews out of the 66 and then nothing for months.

We were hoping to hear that Princess had made some changes to address the negative reviews and were wondering about possibly cancelling our sailing if the reviews don't turn more positive. Of course we won't know if Princess has made changes if there are no recent M.P. reviews to read.

It's hard to form an opinion when there are only this many reviews to read and no recent reviews at all. Perhaps when they get back to Australia/NZ sailings reviews will resume.

Thank you for calling attention to this ship.

I think a big part of this is that the ship is so new and sailing in the Asian market that why we are not seeing any reviews. I also posted on Cruise Critic in the Asian market yesterday. See if I get any responses.

Agree. Plus to think that everyone who cruises posts on CC suggests hubris. Less than 10 percent of all guests, on average, post on any specific cruise thread. With Majestic the percentage is significantly less since it is focused on the Asia/China market, in general people who do not even know CC exists. Maybe there is a similar Chinese website for cruisers... I have twice started a thread last six months for a Majestic cruise/tour in Australia. No responses. Single digit views.

I don’t have a really recent experience, as I sailed on the Majestic Princess in April in the Mediterranean.

If you want to see slideshow videos of my pictures, of the ship, I have them posted on YouTube and can be found at this link.

Those are nice videos!

Does the Harmony Restaurant have an upcharge?

Has anyone been on the Majestic in the last 2 or 3 month who can give a update of the ship

The best & easy way is to go onto several of the Roll Calls for cruises to see peoples responses.

Have you tried this? Please post your responses.

We were on the Majesty in May so also can’t help with a more recent review. However, I recently read a thread on NCL’s Joy on the Norwegian Boards. I don’t know how to copy the link but it should be easy to find. I bring this up because the comments on the atmosphere on the Joy hold very true for the Majestic. She is a gorgeous ship but I would never sail on a ship built for the Asian market again. It’s not bad, it’s just different.

I'm booked on the March 13th and 26th cruise on the Majestic 2019, New Zealand and Sydney to Hong Kong. I've been on the Regal and Royal for longer cruises so I'm not concerned about the ship.

I do know it is set up differently, geared to the Asian market. On my Royal cruise, a few crew were excited to be transferring to the Majestic, see new places plus less bar hours. When you look at the deck plans, the IC no longer has a bar, Vines is still on the other side. No Club 6 by the casino, VIP gaming. I booked my cruises while onboard recently. I looked at the deck plans closer when I got home. No Wheelhouse bar, no Gelato apparently, internet cafe is by the library, small as it is. No Crooners either, now a French Bistro. Outside Princess Live is a tea bar.

I look at it as an opportunity to experience something different, know it could be a different passenger mix. However, if people really like the Regal and Royal, best compare the deck plans closely because apparently it will be a different situation.

depends if they change anything before it comes to australia, will be good to try different dining harmony and le mer plus chopsticks noodle bar and the dim sum and lobster bar.

We have two cruises booked on the Majestic from Sydney. Looking forwards to Asian food. Don't drink or gamble so don't really care about the lounges.

A previous post mentioned checking roll calls, I thought great idea. I'm booked, while posting to the roll calls I did notice comments from someone who was on the Majestic recently.

Apparently rumors on board there will be some changes to the ship before Australian/NZ season. It will be interesting to see what develops, plus there are no cruises listed for several months prior to moving the ship to Australia.

Hi Land Lover can you tell me how you found the food and staff. Is the ship being well maintained. We were on the Royal and found that it did not have a center stair case made it hard to get around and the elevators were small.
