Tampa to Miami on Monday morning?

short answer is probably, 280 miles @ 70 = 4 hours

here's some factors

1. You're looking at about 280 miles

2. You're drive would be virtually all on Interstate (my route would be Selmon exprwy to 75, then in Miami I-95, possibly jumping on the turnpike for a bit, then 395 to the port tunnel) so your average speed should be 70 or better. 280 miles @ 70 = 4 hours

3. you will encounter some electronic only toll roads in both Tampa and Miami ..... you need this service on your rental if using a rental. If own car, toll by plate can be applied. (have a sunpass? all the better}

4. getting out of Tampa might be an issue ... morning rush hour is ruff. Arriving in Miami at noon should not have traffic issues.

5. you must add time to get and return the rental if using one. at neither end are car rental offices AT the cruise terminal

do you feel lucky?

{hint: if you've never done the part of I-75 east west cross state - old alligator alley - ensure you are gassed up and 'rest stopped' up cuz there ain't much along the way .....}

Follow the CAPT's route suggestions and go for it. ;)

I envy those of you who can take the time off to cruise back to back - one day I'll get there!

Thanks. We are retired so we book by price. Got an OV guarantee for $269 PP and we had $400 of casino certificates so it cost us $223 total out the door. Could not turn it down

Thanks. Own car got Sunpass just for an occasion like this. No tolls (yet) in NE Florida. We know where we are parking (exit 2 on I 95) used them several times before. As long as there's no fog or high winds I think we will make it.

I was going to say, that's a whole new twist on a back-to-back! :D One more suggestion, make sure you have lots of traffic reporting resources at your disposal to help with any possible on-the-fly reroutes that might be needed!

once they get on 75 and get not too far south ... alternate routes become FEW and would probably add HOURS to travel time ...

your gots 75 (Alligator Alley) and highway 41 ....... for the easting leg (once much south of Tampa)

when I'm not in a hurry I like the drive on 41 ......

(I mention since I see you are not from around here and this may be useful information in the future)

And just hope that I-75 isn't closed due to wildfires. We just made it past one last spring. We could see the flames on the far side of the other lanes and there were police cars all along the median waiting, I presume, to be told to close I-75 down. Check googlemaps before leaving Tampa to make sure the route is clear! The likelihood is small but it does happen.
