Car rental Long Beach Port

Recommended Posts

After our Carnival cruise we want to hire a car for a few weeks. I have checked sites and know Enterprise has an office in town but their rates are really high. I emailed Alamo, who has better rates, and they don't run a shuttle to their airport office. Does any other car rental firm run shuttle buses? There are 6 of us, including children, and we would prefer to all go for the car, not leave some behind at the pier. Any ideas? Thanks

There is also a Hertz and an Avis office in downtown Long Beach. Here in the States, don't assume the first-tier companies are more expensive. They often have good weekend rates. That said, the downtown offices appear to all be local/ neighborhood franchises with limited business hours and possibly no one-way dropoff.

I suggest checking Long Beach Airport. It's about 10-12km from the Carnival pier, but all the major rental companies are there. The cost of a taxi ride may be offset by a lower rate and convenience. FYI, many of the rental car companies allow you to pick up and drop off at different locations within the LA metro area without a one-way drop fee.

The other idea is to get a shuttle van to LAX. They are plentiful on cruise arrival days. Then, rent a car at LAX. Hope this helps!

Never seen a car rental shuttle at the Long Beach port. You will have to take a shuttle/car service of some sort.

Taxis will not hold 6+luggage. Most in Long Beach are Prius's (What is the plural of Prius?), or other small car.

An idea --

One adult take the kids to the Long Beach Aquarium (by taxi or free Passport bus) while the other one gets the car.

The Aquarium will hold luggage.
