My DH and I are sailing on the Coral in July. I check Cruise Critic daily but rarely find a thread concerning the Coral. Can someone explain to me why this ship is overlooked?

If you are on a pc and you look on the right side of this page, you can click on Coral Princess and you will see MANY posts on her.

You can also use the Search feature, or read Reviews about her.

Although she is older, she is well loved by many posters.

Anything in particular you are wondering about?

No idea unless it's because people post to complain and there is nothing to complain about with Coral. :) We've only sailed on Coral once (17 days SF - FLL via the Panama Canal) and loved it. We've booked the same cabin for November for a 19 day partial transit. Loved Coral. Wonderful cruise. Wonderful crew.

We sailed the Coral from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal last October/November and very much enjoyed the ship and our cruise. The ship is in very good shape, although it is somewhat older and somewhat smaller than other Princess ships, but that is not such a bad thing. I enjoyed their very large and well-stocked library which unfortunately seems to be phasing out on other Princess ships.

I am not a big time gambler, but the casino is one of the smallest that I have ever seen on a ship. The International Café is adjacent to it and unfortunately some smokers were using it as their own indoor smoking area when not gambling and the smoke/smell drifted into the café which we did not like while enjoying a meal or snack.

I was on the Coral last month to the Panama Canal. Love that ship. Not too big, easy to get around, not as many people and the elevators were never crowded. The food was great, ate in both the Bayou and Sabatini's. International Café was great also. Would sail it again if it went to the destinations I have on my bucket list.

Lots of wonderful posts about the Coral on here. I've been researching her for 2 years since we decided to book her for our Alaska cruise next week (!)

I'd like to thank everyone for their replies, I have gone to the Coral reviews on site but they didn't seem to be current. I'm just eager to find out all about it before we sail. Again, thank you!

Been on her twice, Alaska and recently partial PC. She is a relaxed and refined lady..the crew was terrific, the food was good, never felt crowded and decent entertainment . There are no “bells and whistles” just a comfortable and relaxing cruise.

Great ship. Really nice viewing locations for Alaska. Nice Horizon overlooking the bow. Nice Universe Show Lounge aft. Only 2,000 passengers.

One negative. The last time we sailed the Coral anytime dining was not handled very well. The Coral only has two MDR's and lots of space is taken up with traditional dining and now Club Class dining.

The Casino used to be twice the size but 13 Oceanview cabins were added on the port side and the IC was added on the starboard side. Apparently Alaskan and Panama Canal cruisers don’t gamble that much [emoji848]

We are looking forward to be on her to Alaska for a B2B starting next week. We have sailed the Coral in 2014 for a partial Panama Canal transit loved how easy it was to get around the ship and the viewing opportunities afforded us on the Canal transit ( yes I liked having the buffet in the front for that reason and look forward to being there the day we are at Glaciers National Park) and with fewer people on the ship, I knew it was the best ship for us to take to Alaska. But after sailing the past two cruises on the Regal and Royal we will greatly miss the plaza found on those ships, just love the space and what happens on those spaces in the evenings.

You will find most hate her sister ship the Island which they should have never changed.

We sailed Coral and love it and then our very next cruise was on Island. Nope, nope, nope. Didn't care for it at all.

Add me to the list of those who love the Coral. You would think Princess would take heed with all of these fabulous reviews that they would build 10 more of this class.

Not likely. Coral and Island were built to fit through the old locks in the Panama Canal. Princess is now all about more passengers and more venues with an upcharge.

Unlikely to see more ships like the Coral being added to the fleet. Seems the cruise industry has decided bigger is better (and more profitable). We don't agree, but, they didn't ask us.

Looking forward to our upcoming Panama Canal cruise on the Coral, SF to FLL. We were on the Island FL to LA in 2015, before the changes and loved that ship! On the Coral we booked the same cabin that we had on the Island, it was perfect!

Just off the 4 day LA to Vancouver, second time on this ship. Love the size of the Coral. Don't miss the show production: On The Bayou in the Universe Lounge. Very good! Also enjoy pizza for lunch in Sabatini's on sea days. Crooners Bar is always lively but if you want a quiet drink before dinner, go to the Bayou Cafe Bar, sometimes they have nice jazz or blues music there. If you want to avoid the lines for coffee in the International Cafe, go down to Deck 5 to the La Patisserie Bar. Good crew, good service.

We were in one of those newer cabins, and can highly recommend!!!

Lots to love about the Coral. It just has the feel that the space and staff to guest ratio is better than other ships!!! Food and service in the MDR were just excellent. Top Notch.

Very disappointed In the Buffet. (avoided!). and was not impressed with Bayou at all. (On our sailing, no music other than a 'funeral home pianist' for a few minutes.

Entertainment, and Alaska events were really good!!!!

Hope this helps!
