Hotels in Amsterdam

Seeing flowers? Depends what time of the year. Tulips etc. only mid April/beginning of May, best place Keukenhof gardens.

Otherwise be a very early riser and go to the flower auction in Aalsmeer. https://www.royalfloraholland.com/en/about-floraholland/visit-the-flower-auction/aalsmeer

Like any city Amsterdam has tons of hotels.

Check e.g. Hotel Krasnapolsky, Bank Mansion, Carlton, Esterea, Renaissance, Marriott. Or check booking.com where you will not only find the rates but also where it is situated and more info.

Anne Frank, check exaclty 2 month before you want to go there and book tickets online. They sell very fast!

Also about 2 weeks before some tickets come available incl. a lecture, which is a little more expensive.

Otherwise know without reservations they will let you in after about 3 p.m., but lines can be extreme long. Or go after dinner, the house is open till 10 pm.

I recommend the Ambassade Hotel (address is Herengracht 341). We stayed there the first time we were in Amsterdam and liked it so much that we have stayed there every time we return to the city. The hotel is a group of traditional canal houses, and we have always had a room that looked out over the canal. Centrally located.

Sailing out of Amsterdam for the third time next summer. Previous hotels for the last two trips were the Pulitzer and Renaissance and we liked to locations of both. Choices now (using Marriott points) are Renaissance and Marriott.

For those very familiar with the City, which one is closest to the port and, more importantly do your recommend one more than the other.

Thanks

Renaissance is by far the closest to the cruise terminal. Renaissance is also close to Centraal Station. Mariott is close to the museums. Both are excellent hotels.

Looking for a small, interesting, boutique hotel looking over the canals for a one night stay in May. Any suggestions? We will need to get to the airport in the morning. Thanks so much!

Last summer we stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Estherea, a small boutique hotel overlooking Singel Canal. It's lovely and the breakfast was incredible. Highly recommend it.

We were very happy with the Dobletree Centraal Station. The location was a few minute walk from the tram station. It was easy to get there from the airport via the train. We also walked to the cruise pier in 10-15 minutes. Our room was very nice and had a lovely view. We upgraded to the Executive Lounge that provided a good breakfast. We also went there each evening for drinks and heavy appetizers. The hotel was a great choice.

Thinking about busting the budget to stay at the Waldorf. Is it a good location and worth the splurge? Any ideas of equally nice places to stay? We will be there in August for 2 nights.

Thanks!

We stayed at the Toren on the Kaisersgracht last year it’s pricey but wonderful. It’s near the Anne Frank House and around the corner from the Pancake Bakery. It’s 2 canal houses with rooms overlooking either the canal or their garden.

Very convenient location. Great staff. We have reservations there for next October.
