Ship: Royal Princess

Class: Royal Class

Deck: Baja (11th)

Stateroom #: B508

Category: Deluxe Balcony

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Port MidAft

Connects With Cabin #: N/A

Accessible: No

Quiet: Yes. Cabins below and under us, so no loud music or screeching chairs of any kind.

Balcony Size: Regular size for Princess. It is a small balcony, but we found it perfect for the two of us.

View: Great, especially since there is no tender right beneath this balcony, so you can see directly in the water.

Privacy Issues: None that we can think of.

Wind: Very windy, but isn’t the case with every balcony?

Soot: No

Problems: None. The cabin was clean and everything was working perfectly (shower, toilet, hairdryer, tv, etc.).

Comments: Would recommend this cabin to anyone

Ship: Coral Princess

Class: ?

Deck: Caribe-10

Stateroom #: c317

Category: standard balcony

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Starboard mid forward

Connects With Cabin #: N/A

Accessible: No

Quiet: Yes. Cabins below and Above. Can slightly hear the thrusters when docking but that did not cause any disturbance

Balcony Size: half covered, super-sized 9ft x9ft; 2 chairs footrests and table large enough for dining; steward was able to get 2 more chairs for our friends still plenty of room; these caribe deck balconies are our favorite and are good value if you can book them with the right promotion

View: Good, forward views blocked slightly by the bump out section; view down directly from the rail is to dolphin mini suite balconies; good view of water when seated

Privacy Issues: the bump out cabins just forward of us can see into the other balconies; cabins above can see you if you’re at the rail. I knew this ahead of time, plus No one in our Area used the balcony as much as we did, so it was not a big deal.

Wind: The usual amount of wind, very comfortable out there the whole cruise

Soot: No

Problems: None. The cabin was clean and everything was working perfectly (shower, toilet, hairdryer, tv, etc.).New bed was very comfortable

Comments: Would recommend this cabin to anyone. Easy access to the central elevator down to atrium or forward elevator up to pool deck/buffet ( which is forward on the Coral). This was our second time on the Coral, last time was c722 mini, great cabin but long walk everywhere

Ship: Royal Princess

Date: May 1-13, 2018

Class: Suite

Deck: Riviera (14)

Cabin # R730

Category: Aft Penthouse Suite

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Port/Stern

Connects With Cabin # No

Accessible: No

Quiet: Yes

Balcony Size: Along with Sister cabin largest on ship

View: From the Stern, full view, very nice

Privacy Issues: There is some issue with people looking down from deck 15,16,17 - but only at the edge of the deck

Wind: Can get windy but was not an issue at all during our cruise

Soot: Yes, no matter what has been said, we had soot almost every day when it was not raining. The cabin steward had to wash down the deck, but it still left black streaks on deck and walls. It was not a lot, but had to leave the deck during the day because the ash was falling on the deck.

Problems: If you picked this cabin because you wanted to spend time on the large deck, I would say you will be disappointed. Aside from soot, the room is spacious, well appointed, plenty of room. I will not pick this cabin again.

Quiet NO -- we were given a free upgrade to this room because of a glitch in our original booking. It was under part of a restaurant, but we were told they close at 10 p.m. and it would be fine. It's a mini-suite and much more space for three, but what they didn't tell us is that carts run across the floor all night. Finally by the third night we complained and they rerouted the cards and the rest of the cruise was quiet. We'd do this room again, but would mention rerouting the carts at the beginning of the cruise ;)

Balcony Size Very nice for 3

Quiet: Mostly, only sounds were loud children in the hall if right in front of our doorway. You could hear some engine noise when approaching piers at ports but it was for a very short period of time.

Problems: The room was not cleaned very well, but otherwise was as expected.

Comments: I was really worried about this room as we were booked into this room for a family vacation without any chance for feedback. We were traveling with our teenage daughter, so basically three full sized adults. I had read lots of negative reviews about these 4 person interior rooms. We found the size of the room to be much better than expected. We kept the beds in bunks and used the bunk on the far wall as the third bed (the closest one remained closed). If all four bunks were in use I could see this room feeling a lot more cramped. We had plenty of storage for three. Four would be harder for sure. Doable but pack light. We used a clear hanging pocket storage over the back of the bathroom door. I think that helped keep the bathroom less cluttered.

Comments[ - Cabin was located middle-aft and was the last obstructed view cabin on starboard side. Cabin was priced with the inside cabins, so less than a guaranteed ocean view, we thought it a good price overall. Description from door to window: short “hallway” with pretty good sized dressing area on right side between bathroom door and large, open closet. Easy to get dressed there, more open than by bed. Bathroom was adequately sized, good water pressure with dreaded lightweight shower curtain. In dressing area, along the side wall was a stack of open shelves, including cabin safe. Safe held iPad phones wallets but would not have held even a small laptop. Plenty of hangers and steward brought pre-requested bathrobe the morning after boarding.Cabin space was tight, with bed configured as a queen, there was about 18” between bed and back of closet wall. When one of us wished to pass by the foot of the bed, the other had to stand alongside the bed. Mattresses were replaced in dry dock, about 6 months before our cruise. Very comfortable if a little soft for my taste. Spouse said it was perfect. Good bedding - 3 flat white sheets with duvet between top 2. Pillows okay (4).

Large TV (flatscreen) on high shelf clearly designed for old style tv - edge protruded into walk zone. Only watched daily POD programming info but seemed good quality. Single small shelf area below tv and above small cabinet that held mini fridge, which easily held our case of water and a couple wine bottles. Shelf held small tray for a couple glasses and ice bucket. Small barrel chair under exterior window - too small for most men, I’d estimate, best designed for small-medium sized woman. Small writing desk with drawers - enough for travel guides, patters, small electronics. Small nightstand on each side of bed - open shelf and 2 drawers. Table lights had USB. Window was nice and large and provided good views even with the metal ladders etc for accessing the lifeboats. Only negative was there was too much metal for our GPS tracker to map our route, which really was a prime motivator for booking this room.

Very port and sight intensive trip (northbound Alaska IP) so the somewhat cramped quarters were fine - we truly only “slept and showered” there!

Would book again for right price as long as we didn’t want to track and map our route.

Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Starboard side forward

Quiet No! Beneath the fitness center, which the treadmills are open from 8Am until 8PM

Balcony Size approx. 210 square feet, about 42' X 5'

View Partially obstructed by the bridge at the forward end of the balcony

Privacy Issues Bridge could possibly see into the bedroom at night, but during the day the reflective material over the window prevents that. The observation platform over the bridge appears to be permanently closed off to guest access, so no one can see onto the balcony from there. Passengers on the fitness center deck above can partially see down on the balcony.

Wind Very windy when the ship is under full speed. The balcony furniture needs to be tied down and secured during the windy days and nights. The cabin steward had ours tied down most of the time.

Soot None

Problems Noise from the above fitness center makes the room terribly noisy during the use of the treadmill time of 8AM to 8PM.Views from the balcony are great when looking straight out, but partially blocked when looking forward.

Comments Very large suite. Some of the amenities included

fresh flowers in each room including the bathroom, deluxe canapes, free access to a DVD library (room steward will get them for you), balcony furniture, full hot breakfast room service menus, as well as upgraded room service lunch and dinner items and upgraded bathroom amenities. Complimentary services include, use of the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite, Internet Cafe web access, laundry and dry cleaning, as well as a one time complimentary use of the mini bar.

Comments  We hesitated about taking this cabin, since it was below the Sea Walk.  However, it turned out to be a great choice.  The balcony was larger than those on our previous Royal and Regal mini-suites.  Very few people actually walked on the Sea Walk and the majority of those were looking out to the sea.  I walked the Sea Walk at night and I could just see our balcony, less of a view than on some levels of the Grand Class.  I like to sit out at night and rarely did I see more than a half dozen people on the Sea Walk and again, they rarely spent any time looking at the cabins below.  Marina and Riviera had more exposure, but again, few people seemed to be interested.

Problems: One noisy morning

Comments: Booked as a last minute addition to a 19 day cruise on Coral Princess. We took this cabin as a "Drop and Go" on Ruby to add a 7 day coastal onto the front end of a previously booked 19 day Coral Princess cruise. As a last minute addition we just took this cabin without being picky. It was an interior all the way forward on Caribe deck. It was right next to a door marked "Crew Only" but there was no issue with noise from that. We did see some folks coming down the hallway a few times on their way to that door but there was no problem. The only "minor" issue was the day we dropped anchor off of Montery, CA. OMG! It sounded like a freight train was coming through the cabin. It's definitely something that will wake you up from a sound sleep. It was incredibly loud but, once we figured out what it was, we just laughed about it and went back to sleep. (After the noise had stopped of course.) Nothing horrible but it would probably really upset some folks. We just rolled with it.

This was a great cabin.  Although it is directly across from the laundry room, we never heard any noise and it’s just down the hall from the Concierge Lounge.  It was a short distance to the aft elevators that lead up to the Horizon Court.  Midship elevators were a little longer walk but not too bad.

Comments great views and cabin.  Lots of storage space.  The wall by the bed isn't magnetic because of the closet, but there were still lots of places for magnetic hooks.
