Miami Airport Hotels

We will be cruising from Miami. In the past we have stayed at the Hampton Inn Brickell but their rates are ridiculous right now.

I am thing of staying at one of the airport hotels, but would like to know if there is anything to do within walking distance. Any input would be appreciated.

My understanding is that area surrounding the airport is not optimal for activities. This is similar to many major airports.

Are you looking for restaurants mostly or activities such as golf, etc?

If all you want is someplace for dinner and to do some shopping for cruise supplies, hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA (Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites, etc.) are close to a local strip mall with grocery, drug and liquor :D stores plus several sit down dining and fast food options. The strip mall is across the street from the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon and there are other hotels within a 5-10 minute walk.

Then I would avoid the La Quinta East and MIA Embassy Suites - both are isolated with nothing nearby. Focus on the Blue Lagoon area hotels. Good luck with your search! :)

Yes, I agree with previous replies. Hyatt House or Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon.

You can also look at Hampton Inn Doral, Hyatt Place and Wingate Doral. I actually like that strip mall better than blue lagoon.

Actually just booked the Homewood Suites Dolphin Mall. I hope this was a good choice. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Slightly farther away from the port, but you should be okay. Have a great cruise! ;)

I absolutely love this hotel. Great breakfast, excellent service and the property is fresh and new.

The have a golf cart shuttle to/from the Dolphin Mall.
