Since the hurricane last fall Oceania has removed Sint Martin and San Juan from this sailing and replaced with an extra sea day and St. Kitts. They have retained Tortola and Samaná ports of call although they have no shore excursions planned for these ports.

I have been reading some boards and it appears that neither of these ports are in shape to accept cruise passengers. Most of the beaches near Roadtown are closed due to high bacterial counts. I expect Samaná to be in worse condition.

I question why other ports which are in better shape did not replace these two ?

A) With so many Ports out of commission, there is a huge demand for the few remaining options, and a ship must get advance permission to visit. They can't just "show up" wherever they think would be best.

B) Ports give preference to Lines which patronize them year round. Ships which visit only occasionally are at a distinct advantage.
