Cruise Only

Recommended Posts

We always do Cruise Only - having sailed from Palma (several times), Malaga and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. We always time our arrival at the port just ahead of the time we estimate the first load of passengers will be coached in from the airport (usually around 10.30 a.m.).

If you arrive at Palma Cruise Terminal by taxi the cab will not be able to take you to the dockside area where the package holiday coaches stop so go through the main entrance, up the escalator, bear to your left and down the corridor to the designated Marella 'check in' area. There is a table there with a Thomson/Marella rep who will ask where you have flown in from - just give your names and say that you are 'Independent Passengers' and he/she will give you an envelope containing your luggage labels with your cabin number on and Cruise Card. Put the luggage labels on then take your cases to the left of the check in desks (far side of the lift/staircase) where they will be taken off you and you won't see them again until they are delivered to your cabin.

Get back in the 'check in' queue and from then onwards everything is the same whether you are 'Cruise Only' or on a package.

24-48 hours before the end of your cruise you will receive luggage labels showing that you are independent passengers (labels are usually white or black for independents).and all similar cases are stored together dockside for you to collect when you are ready to leave the ship. As a security measure - especially if we are not heading for the airport so do not have a flight number - we always write on approximately what time we will be leaving the ship in case ours are the last cases left for collection.

As independent passengers you can stay on board the ship until you have to leave for the airport - and can use all the ships facilities (including AI drinks if you have the AI package) up to that time.

Hope this helps - let me know if you require any further info.
