British Isles cruise - viewing the shoreline

Anyone know which side of the ship is better for viewing the various shorelines throughout the cruise? We are in a suite on the port side on the Crown Princess round trip from Southampton next August.

I posted this question on my roll call several weeks ago but no one has answered. :o

2 possible itineraries, but they both go clockwise round the UK, so best chance would probably be starboard side. Having said that, I would imagine they will cruise more than 16 miles off shore, in which case you will have trouble seeing the coast, except for entering/leaving port.

the ship sails clockwise so starboard I have cruised from Invergordon to Edinburgh and you get good views through the Moray Firth. After that it will be dark so you won't see anything. You will cruise up the Firth of Forth early the next morning and will get views of Fife to the North and Edinburgh and the Lothians to the South as the river gets narrower. You then sail back the Firth so will see the opposite bank.

I was surprised at how much shoreline we were able to see on our British Isles cruise. The weather was glorious and the coast from Greenock on was stunning. We had a starboard cabin.
Did you see the coast as your ship came into Greenock or as the ship was leaving?

Both. If you get a good map of Scotland you will see which islands you sail by when traveling north.
Thanks I'll do that. We are looking forward to seeing everything! My wife wants to take as many pictures as possible. This cruise has been on her wish list for 35 years.

Any idea why most of the cabins that are already book are on the port side?

I'm still waiting for feedback on my question, but no luck so far. I was thinking about changing to the starboard side, but I will wait a little longer for replies. Hopefully someone may have some insight. [emoji16]
