Looking to book a cruise which includes St. Petersberg Russia. We are 4 seniors from 69-81 years of age. Not looking for a party ship or a mega ship. Which cruise line would you recommend. Looking at something like 14 days. Thank you:)

Sorry but I must have not worded my question correctly. We have already looked at which cruise lines visit St. Petersberg, Russia and for how long etc, etc. What I am looking for is "a persons opinion on which cruise line to choose and why". We have cruised before on both royal Caribbean and Holland America.

Can you give us the list of cruise lines. If you do we could comment on it.

We will be on the Pacific Princess for the Baltic cruise sailing July 4, 2018. It is a 14 day cruise. This ship is a smaller one holding just 680 passengers.

I am not sure how mobile you are but we have a private two day tour with Alla that requires minimal walking.

If you are happy with small, older ships, there are three lines which sail from the north of England and Scotland, to the Baltic. Cruise and Maritime are adult only; Fred Olsen has some cruises adult only, but is not geared to children and usually has older people, and Tui Marella, formerly Thomson, which is a family ship. The first two lines also have ships sailing out from southern ports.

We did an Azamara 14 day Baltic cruise that included 3 days in St Petersburg. The nice thing about their smaller ships is that they literally dock in the thick of things. We were across from The Hermitage. We did 3 days of private tours with SPB tours. Excellent. The cruise was fine for the 4 of us active 70 year olds. The only red flag I would mention is that Azamara is going through a transition of new entertainment. The jury is still out on that. Food and service was fine. Hope this helps.

The ports are the ports. Where the real difference comes through is the difference between cruise industry segments and how that translates to food quality, service and amenities as well as passenger population (size and demographics). A good "cruise specialist" TA will interview you regarding travel experience and preferences and help you narrow your list of possibilities.

For us, the deal breakers are thundering herds, nickel-diming, low quality food (both ingredients and preparation). So, for any itinerary that includes St Petersberg, we'd only consider lines like Oceania or Regent.

We sailed on Princess in the Baltic and were very happy all the way around.

Used a private excursion in St Petersburg which worked out beautifully. Princess isn’t party hearty, but doesn’t expect everybody to be in bed at eleven, either.

We went on Oceania Nautica, one of their smaller ships, and had a fabulous trip to the Baltic and St. Petersberg. We did the ship's excursions, and were let in earlier than the public in some of the venues. The ship's service, food, and lecturers were all excellent, and we (seniors) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are no cruises on the Russian River [emoji6]. Of course, there's plenty of nearby wineries [emoji485][emoji485][emoji485].

Sure there are...very small vessels. You have to row, you BYOB, and food. Service is poor and the beds are horrible.

We are seniors and had a wonderful time on Oceania. They spent 3 days in st. Petersburg. We used SPB for touring.

Have yet to visit St. Petersberg. But, when we do, rest assured it will be on an Oceania ship.

We took a Princess cruise with our very older aunt and uncle which included St. Petersburg and all of us had a very good time. :D:D

We took a two week cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Ship held about 200 people. We started with 4 days in Moscow, then 6 days sailing on the rivers, canals and lakes, and finished with 4 days in St. Petersburg. It was a nice trip. Not as fancy as the larger cruise ships we were used to.
