Passport Question

I was filling out our FunPass this evening and got to the part where it asks for the Issuing City/Authority. Under that section on mine it says "United States Department of State." My husband's says "Houston". We both got them in TX. Does anyone else's say Department of State? Yes, I intend to call them when I get a chance to make sure this won't keep me from going on our trip, but I was just curious if anyone else has seen this. Thanks!!!

You cannot change your passport, just put in what is there, let Homeland Security figure it out. The passport number is tied to the "CITY" that is listed.:D

I agree with the above poster, 3 out of our 4 say Dept of State and that is what we have always entered, one says Boston :) Have a great cruise!

I have always put United States, and it was fine.

Thanks, I was confused as there is no place on my passport that says where it was issued.

I have used Dept of State

Mine says US dept of state too...never had any problems with just putting that in.

Houston isnt a issuing city. In fact I think we got ours from Charleston this last time, and I live in Dallas. I called to find out the city, but if you dont know, I wouldnt just put in a random city.

The old passports used to have the city on them, and carnival never updated their base, the question is now meaningless. They no longer put this on the new passports.

We just got new passports. The old ones said they were issued in Chicago, the new ones do not mention a city.

We've used Dept of State for ours with no problems either.

Me too!!! I've used Houston for the past four years and no problems...

Most passports that have been issued in the past five years or so say Department of State. It's no big deal. About five years ago, the Department of State made an effort to centralize their passport records instead of keeping them in the seven passport processing locations across the country. When your husband renews his passport, his will say Department of State too. No big thing, nothing to worry about!

Because when the DOS expanded the passport program in response to our lovely post 9-11 society, they expanded the passport processing centers from 7 to 19. And yes, Houston is one of them:

It really doesn't matter. You can put Houston, or you can put US Dept of State. It isn't one of those things they are going to cross check and pull you to the side about. No worries!
