If NCL offered completely non-smoking cruises, would you book?

That's how Carnival wanted it. Even during the construction of the ship, the workers at the shipyard weren't allowed to smoke while on the ship.

Why would the crew have to be non-smoking, they don't smoke in passenger public spaces.

Because smoke clings to a smokers clothes. I cannot stand to be near someone with stinky smoky clothing! That in itself could set off an asthma attack near some people! My office co-worker once smoked, and I refused to hang my coat anywhere near hers! Disgusting!

It would be the next cruise booked. Besides reasons others mentioned; #1 health, #2clinging smell...not properly put out cigarettes cause fires.

I have not, but I was referring to people that have asthma and are extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke, and just the smell of it on people's clothing. I really can't understand why anyone would smoke anymore in this day and age with all the education of the dangers and hazards of smoking. And I repeat, it is not putting down someone's lifestyle choice. When a "lifestyle choice" endangers the public with their filthy, hazardous habit, then it should be banned in ANY PUBLIC VENUE! And I repeat, as a retired RN, I've seen the devastation caused by this "lifestyle choice".

Would not like to pay extra (OK maybe a tiny bit?) but a no smoking cruise sounds amazing.

All other things being equal, I would choose the non-smoking cruise.

IMO it doesn't need to be a total ban, but certainly every indoors area and have a smoking deck at the stern which crew and passengers are able to avoid.

I understand that a non smoking ship would be a bad business decision. I just wish there could be better designs to allow for the non smokers to not be miserable when near the smoking areas of the ship. I realize that my one addiction (gambling) get trumped by other people's trifecta addictions (gambling, drinking and smoking), but the casino on Breakaway is borderline unbearable, plus the open design of the ship also allows the smoke to waft to decks 6 and 8, making it difficult for my wife to walk throw that area on any deck without needing to take a puff from her inhaler. Dawn, Jewel and Gem didn't seem to have that problem. I don't know how Epic is now, but we were on the maiden voyage, so the ship was too new to have any smoke damage yet.

I'm happy to hear the Gem is better, but I regret I can't even use the casino credit we were given. Asthma makes it impossible to get near a smoke-filled casino. (Aside from the fact that I don't want my clothes to stink.)

I have been sailing Pullmantur for the past few cruises. A Spanish cruise line. Lot of smokers. No smoking inside, including casino and balcony.

They do Stay up late for pool side parties, I do see that is when the port/ starbord rule is thrown out. But almost one person in every group is smoking.

My very 1st cruise was on the Carnival Paradise, so was my 2nd. I would gladly book any non smoking cruise on any line. Celebrity has non smoking nights in their casinos.

I worked in substance abuse rehab for 20 years, and 85% of our residents smoked. It is actually the biggest killer of people in long term recovery from alcohol and drugs, go figure!

Probably because in any other public venue in the USA, smoking is banned because it is a health hazard. It should also be banned on cruise ships. I'm not trying to be high and mighty, just stating s fact.

Both are wrong. Smoking is allowed in SOME casinos in the US, and banned in others.

No smoking in any public areas in Ohio, including casinos.

Ok Let me rephrase that. The places I will go to allow smoking, the others well lets just say they will not get my vacation money. Ohio, won't go, Maryland, won't go. Why would I when I have Vegas or Atlantic City?

Oh i'm SO sorry if the smell of my wine glass made you have to go wash your hair to get the reeking smell out of it. You can't even compare the two, yes they're both harmful (well, one is always, the other it depends on how much you take) but one of them affects every person within a wide range, and the other doesn't (or shouldn't) affect you. Well maybe someone near you is going to be a bit louder or more annoying, but at least you'll be able to breathe.

As for the casino, it's not like there's just some tiny little smoking area. The smoke drifts even if you're in the non smoking area. And the smoking area might be where the slot machine you want to play is, some are way more fun than others. Point is, the person being inconvenienced should be the one choosing to do that harmful thing that impacts everyone else, not the person that just wants to breathe clean air.

In vegas I have no issues with the casinos or smoke, and they allow smoking there, but they have way higher ceilings and a way better system to recycle the air, if the cruise ship was as smoky as a Vegas casino i'd be fine with it, but it's not.

As a former smoker, I have no problem with smoking areas, on a ship, amusement park or wherever. But if it was a completely smoke free cruise I'd be happy. One thing I would be curious to know is if vaping would be considered smoking. I don't mind people vaping at all. Some of the "flavors" smell really nice. I'm not going to do it but it's much better then the smell of cigarette smoke. My opinion, that's all.

I actually have more of a problem with people wearing too much perfume or cologne. No matter how wonderful it smells on you, I don't want to taste it. And too much perfume gives me migraines. Second hand smoke bothers me less than the cloud of perfume. Especially in elevators.

One thing I would be curious to know is if vaping would be considered smoking.

Thanks for the info. My brother vapes and his contraption looks nothing like a cigarette. I guess there must be a few styles.
