Hello Host Dan,

Thank you for your interest in learning more about VarietyCruises. Our fleet of 8 fully-owned small ships has been built in Greece and bymaritime companies that have formed and whose people are still part of VarietyCruises today.
VarietyCruises is a family owned company with a long and established tradition in theGreek travel industry dating back to 1949. Variety’s fleet consists ofupscale mega yachts and motor sailers accommodating between 34-72 passengers in17 to 36 cabins per ship. All of its ships are built to stringent SOLASstandards - and are insured by Lloyds of London.

Variety Cruises was establishedin 2006 with the merge of Zeus Group Maritime and Hellas Yachts Group. Zeus Group evolved from Zeus Tours, a company founded in 1949 by Greek tourismvisionary and pioneer, Diogenis Venetopoulos. Zeus Tours startedout as an incoming Travel Agency, eventually becoming one of Greece’s leadingtravel companies. Zeus Tours entered the small ship cruises market in1968 as an operator of scheduled cruises and special interest charters mainlyfrom Europe. Zeus’s foray into the scheduled cruises niche marketcommenced with the chartering of a yacht - Eleftherios in 1968. In 1973Zeus launched its first owned ship – a reconstructed wooden cargo vessel NIKI,offering 18 cabins. In the mid ‘90’s steel ships were introduced with betteraccommodations and public areas and capabilities to operate in internationalwaters. It was in the late ‘80’s with the improvements in the quality ofthe ships that Zeus entered the US market, and including Canada, itsubsequently became its most important market - accounting today for 50% of itsbusiness. By 2001, a number of Motor Sailers and Motor Yachts had been added tothe fleet establishing a new standard for the Variety Cruises fleet, which nowtotaled six vessels. In 2006, soon after the merger between Zeus Group& Hellas Yachts, the newly formed Variety Cruises commissioned theconstruction of the Variety Voyager, a 68 meter Mega yacht, launched late in 2012.

It appears that your cruise line has quite the "Variety" of ships and yachts. Where were the ships acquired? Defunct cruise line? Privately owned? Just curious! Thank you!
