Obscenely low drop and go rates

Tonight I received a drop and go email that had some obscenely low drop and go rates.

The one that almost gave me a heart attack was for a cruise that I am already booked on.

We booked an inside last March, and were given a free upgrade to an oceanview last night (after final payment), due to some pretty hefty price drops over the past couple of weeks.

However, if the fares featured in this email were any lower, I'd be cruising for free.

Insides were now 1/6 of what we paid, and mini-suites were now less than half of the price for what we paid for an inside.

In another weird twist, oceanviews were twice the price of mini suites, and there were tons of ov cabins available and only a handful of minis.

I could not believe what I was seeing, and took screen shots just in case these prices disappeared.

My travel agent is based in Florida, and was already closed for the night. I was worried that folks west of us would gobble up these incredible bargains, so I called Princess myself.

The Princess customer service rep could not pull up any of the prices I quoted, even after giving her the rate and campaign codes, so I emailed her the screen shots. She assured me that I was not hallucinating, but that those prices were not showing up in her system.

The rep promised to look into where this pricing came from, why she couldn't pull it up, and to work with my agent tomorrow.

She told us not to worry...easier said than done, lol. Figers (and toes) are crossed.

Someone else posted about getting an email with insanely low November and December Caribbean fares from the Princess Player's Club. The only thing I can think of is that there have been cancellations due to the devastation in the Caribbean. That or the notorious Princess IT issues have seriously gone haywire. Here's hoping you are able to take advantage of the lower pricing, I see fairly normal fares so far but the night is young here in Arizona.

I cannot tell from your post if you are looking to book an additional cruise, or looking to get your current booking re-fared.

If the former, just go to the website and put a 24 hour hold on one.

If the latter, that is why the rep could not see the fares as they are naturally for new bookings only.

I had no problem putting the 24 hour hold on my choice: Nov 25 five night getaway on Royal Princess, one of the obstructed deluxe balconies on Emerald Deck (with the pie shaped balcony) for $74/pp.

We got upgraded to a aft suite and my Mother got upgraded to a mini suite. We are sailing in Dec. Panama Canal. I believe one of the engines is having a propulsion problem so everyone started cancelling. Not me, I’m happy with a suite upgrade 🤣

Congratulations! We love the suite experience and being aft on your own private balcony going through the canal will be perfect!

Specialty fees are tied to your CC# - just log into the website and you will see your special fares (it has to be THE person the special rates were sent to or you will see normal rates)

I received one of these today, mainly in relation to cruises in Aust or from Asia. The email was misleading as most fares were much higher when you opened up the specific cruise or the rate was for inside cabins and they were all sold out (I opened the email within an hour of getting it). One cruise was for 27 days and offered a ridiculously low price however when I clicked that specific cruise link, inside was gone and the cheapest fare was a balcony for over $10k - not cheap at all. The email said up to 60% off launch fares, which you'd be crazy to pay anyway, and then of the 8-10 cruises on offer only one was 60% off and the others were about 15-20% off which you get every day of the week.

I am starting to tire of Princess' marketing techniques.

I think the email I received was for casino rates. At the rate I play--usually no more than $20 a cruise in slots--I don't know why. But one 5-day cruise was $49 for an inside. An inside on a 10-day cruise was $199. I put down a hold on a cabin on the Royal for December last night while DH was sleeping. I had started tracking prices in early August for the cruises that fit for us in early December. We're getting a balcony for half the price of what insides were originally.

What are the penalties for a re-fair?

In my case, we are past final payment, so we'd lose everything.

I know prices fluctuate, but when I saw a mini going for less than half the price of my interior, I almost jumped out of my skin. The rate they were showing for an interior would allow me to book 5 cabins, double occupancy, for the same price I paid for one. It's mind boggling!

I also received an email for a lowball price and when I clicked on it to book the fare was not the same. So I called Princess and got it booked at the low price

Here I live so close to the port and don't seem to be getting emails. I got the drop and go but once I hit it the prices were $49 per day per person. Maybe Princess is annoyed with me because I questioned their ethics in regards to my purchasing the AIBP and having it changed!!! LOL

I just perused these cruises (I received the email for Princess Players Club yesterday, too) and indeed I could select a cabin and continue with booking online. Canadian prices are a little higher. Insides $58.80 per/person for 5 day $118.80 for 7 day, etc. We are gamblers, but not high rollers. Can't believe these prices!

Ugh.....Princess customer service is now claiming that the prices I saw were a mistake, so I asked them why other people were able to book minis for the same price, as mentioned in the other thread. They promised to do a bit of investigating and call my agent back this afternoon.

I believe if you cancel more than 57 days out you only lose the deposit. If you used FCC, that is $200.

Without logging in, I saw the 5 night on the crown Nov 8th, for $49 inside and $69 OV. When I clicked through the rates jumped up to normal at first, but then if you kept going and selectees a cabin, there were just a few cabins at the rate. I'm already booked on a another ship, but I emailed a friend and they were able to jump on it! Crazy!

Well, my TA is worth his weight in gold. We are now in a mini, and we were able to keep our current promotion of free grats.

We already had plans to take him and his gf out to dinner the night before our cruise, but now I have to make sure it's extra special!
