Just for fun, what is the single worst thing you have seen a carnival cruiser doing?

Recommended Posts

Ok, this wasn't Carnival ... but on an RCI cruise there was this older guy, (70-ish) Vladimir who in the lounge would get up and sing, BADLY. Everyone was laughing SO hard. I video taped him. He was down on his knees, had the microphone, eyes closed, belted out this song and it was awful ... but SO funny. He showed up nightly and everyone cheered/egged him on!

That's so funny. No harm done. He probably thought he was good. Often thought on America's got talent why didn't their parents tell some of those kids Sorry son you're no good.

Wow ..... phew! I am pretty sure he was referencing the MANY websites showing people shopping at walmart and wearing (if you can call it that) very bizarre clothing/outfits.

Maybe i didn't know what it was about. But i have to tell you after visiting Orlando and seeing a lot of people shopping in their flannel pj's i thought i saw everything. But the link you set me showed me it can get much worse. LOL;)

The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 (23 U.S.C. § 158) was passed by the United States Congress on July 17, 1984.

In Louisiana there was a loophole where it was legal to sell to 18-20 year olds but it was "illegal" for them to consume it. Rarely if ever enforced. When the federal government threatened withholding hiway funding they changed the law in the 90s. In the 70s we went to some bars in NOLA when we were 15 and were never asked for ID. Just had to know which ones.

I grew up in New York when the drinking age was 18, and more proofed more in high school then college. I think if they weren't sure, they didn't ask you.

My son went to college in New Orleans. I remember a friend asking him if he ha a fake ID, he said "No, I don't need it in New Orleans". I think Louisiana still has laws that allow for minors to drink in restaurants with parents consent, and to drink in private residences without parents consent, if an adult is present. We had a woman bring a bunch of high school kids to a Florida hotel for spring break one year, she was shocked when we said they can not drink at the pool even if you give it to them.

That's what I'm talking about. 1994...18 year olds could drink in bars but couldn't buy alcohol in stores... It went back to 21 in '95...then back down to 18 in '96..then back to 21 in '96...fun times

When I was 17, lived in Manchester, NH, and worked in Traffic at the Manchester PD. So on a Friday night, I would walk up to and INTO the dance club with the police at the door. They would say hi to me and let me in! Same for my 17th birthday. Had a cake AT work that day and that night (again with cop at the door) went into chinese restaurant/lounge and PARTIED and was held up by 2 friends on my way OUT the door.

Wasn't there a no drinking age in international waters at one point? I KNOW I drank like a fish when I was 19 and on Carnival .... back in 1982.
Greased pole over the pool, skeet shooting and golf ball hitting off of the aft deck, decorating your wooden horses and looking for Cuba up on the funnel deck. ;p Many things have changed on Carnival in the past 35 years.

I bet you were one of those gals that stuffed their bikini with the ping pong balls after diving into the pool during the men vs women competition. :')

In Mississippi, in the early 80's, you could get into bars at 18. They's stamp your hand with a red "18". Only thing they'd sale you was beer if you had the stamp. All others could buy any type of drink.

WHAT? What ARE you talking about? Lost me there.

That was one of the competitions back in the day. A guy and a gal each jumped into the pool which was filled with ping pong balls and they had one minute to stuff as many as possible into their bathing suits. Obviously those gals that wore a one piece could stuff more than those who wore a bikini. And of course the guys who wore a speedo were also at a disadvantage. 😁

Not something I saw them do but actually a conversation we had. We were in Nassau and were coming back from the beach along with some of our fellow cruisers . They went on to talk about how awful the food on the ship ( The Valor) was and then rubbed their hands together hungrily once they realized there was a popeyes somewhere in the area. They asked the driver to stop there, thankfully he would not with me and my sisters in the car but I found it hilarious.

I had eaten swordfish with my sister the night before and to hear this family criticize the ship food and then rant and rave about popeyes chicken ? Don't get me wrong popeyes is great but I'd argue even the worst food I had on the ship was better than typical fast food.

Several years ago my husband and were cruising and met this couple that had never cruised before. We were paired at dinner too. The husband was a loud mouth and started swinging his fist a guy just outside the theatre because he looked at his new wife. He was literally beating the crap out of him. He was detained and taken into custody by security on the ship. The lady ended up staying with us the rest of the cruise because she had no one else. I felt horrible not only for her on her honeymoon but worse was the fact she married a guy like that which was supposed to be lifelong. It was awful. I felt so bad for her.

My last cruise, my sister and I went to the bar to buy bottled water. We were going to a tethered port, and it was maybe 10am. A woman was so drunk it was insane. The bar tender told her that she already hit her daily drink maximum.

The woman, cried, begged and plead for "an more drink". Security was called.

I was shocked at it being so early in the day.

I was on a cruise and the table next to me had an infant .. the parents got up to get food.. the baby was crying and crying... the man left at the table did nothing about it... I got up to pick up the baby and that's when the man actually did something.... how can you sit there and let an infant just cry and cry and ignore it?? I don't even have kids..... poor thing.

another story - my first cruise was on Celebrity (sorry I know this is about Carnival) and my husband came down with the Norvo Virus (2/2012) or something similar to it.... We called to see if we could meet the doctor... Were told it would be $200.00 (we were broke) and so since my husband was throwing up and um, was evacuating other parts (really, how do you say it to be nice?) of his body at the same time.. The toilet stopped working, so while we called to get that fixed, he started throwing up in baggies.... nice visual, huh? We called the doctor an hour later and was told it would be $300....

I called to see if I could get a can of coke or ginger ale (not that it would have helped) to be delivered and was told no.... for no reason..... I went to the bar and since it was midnight, they said no....

We called the doctor again at 1 am...were told it would be 500... the price kept going up ....

we tried anti-vomiting pills, he threw them up... we tried Dramamine, he threw them up... no matter what we did, it didn't work... neither of us got any sleep....

Luckily it was the last night of the cruise.. at 6 am, we said screw it, and went to the dr... they gave him a shot to stop the vomiting and something else .... he slept for about an hour,... then we were told

we had to get off the ship.

We get off the ship and they take us back to the airport...I sit Mark in a wheelchair... he is dehydrated, exhausted and feeling horrible. He needs a hospital....

Someone tells me not to tell the stewardess that he doesn't feel well cause they won't fly him.. so we say nothing... We get back to NYC and our friend decides not to pick us up because "she didn't feel like it" and left us stranded ... luckily another friend of mine rode in to the rescue and let me drive his car back to Connecticut.... where I drove right to the hospital. My husband was admitted, and I called his family and they came down ... I went home to drop off our suitcases etc and was told someone in my family died while I was on the cruise.....

Mark and I were dating for under 6 months when this all happened to us..... I married that man....

It's been 16 years together.... After that trip, there were no more surprises...

We talked to Celebrity, we mailed out letters... you know what we got as a response? A piece of paper that said, the next time you vacation, think of us!!!!!

I would think most men would like it if another man looked at his wife .
