I want to thank everyone regarding this thread. I'm cruising with family and friends in December and I've saved $100!! That's money in my pocket!

It does add up!! We have a January cruise booked that we are paying for 4 cabins and it makes a HUGE difference.

Can you use multiple 500-cruise-cards to pay for one cruise?

And, these are valid only for people who book directly from the cruiseline's website, right? And onboard purchasing.

Are you using a travel agent? Because I made payments using gift cards, and I had a TA. I would either call or email her the numbers on back if the cards, and she would apply them to my account.

Has anyone had problems with the cards being denied?

I always check the balance as soon as I get them to make sure that there was not an issue with activation. Some people have reported a rare problem,, but AARP took care of it. They are not a reseller. You are the original purchaser on these cards. I, personally, have never had a problem.

Can you deposit the AARP gift cards directly to your sail card? And then use them for gambling in the casino?

Thank you...

Yes, just take the card or gift card # along with Pin Number to guest services. If there is a balance at the end of your cruise they will issue a gift card to you for the balance unless its less than $5. If it is they put it in the St Judes fund

In case there is some possible misunderstanding for those new to the concept/discussion (and forgive me if there isn't), but these are bona fide Carnival gift cards offered through AARP at a discount. They are not AARP gift cards that you use on Carnival.

Just throwing it out there as I frequently see people inquiring about "AARP Gift Cards" complicated by the potentially misleading thread title.
