We will be in Sydney Pre-Cruise and looking for a really good tour company for possible full day tour and half day tour. Would like to do Blue Mountain and of course the Sydney Harbour area. Any recommendations for good reliable tour companies?

Taking a round trip on the Sydney ferry will suit quite well as an incredible ride in the harbour. If the idea is to be simply enjoy the beauty of being out on that teal/emerald colored water in the sun and breezes, this is all you need.

Take a round trip to Manly Beach or Tauranga Zoo...head back to Sydney Quay when ready as the ferries operate regularly.

As for Blue Mountain tours, I had a full day tour and thoroughly loved it but I was in Sydney longer and it did help make the drive more worth it although it was very worth it on its own merits, in fact I ought to have stayed overnight had I known it was an option. There are different tour options and different providers and it’s difficult to suggest one over another since Individual interests and preferences vary.

In this instance it’s worth checking out what type of itinerary the companies offer, check their reviews (honestly google can be helpful in situations like this!) and then see what suits your interests/time/budget the most.

In no way can you make a wrong choice with your itinerary....as I stated, the Blue Mountains are phenomenal and I can’t think of any time anyone posted here that didn’t also love their time there. You will too.

Try Shire Shuttle who also offer tours as well as airport & cruise shuttles - try a wine tours - www.shireshuttlebus.com.au/tours, they'll create one for you if you wish. I've used them several times and found them to be reliable.

Good tip.

Used them for a few winery tours that were great fun

Check out Blue Diamond tours to Blue Mountains & Featherdale Animal Sanctuary - we are booked on them in November so I can't say if they are good, but I haven't seen a bad review on them yet on Tripadvisor.

A good and reputable company.

Seems VERY popular with Japanese and Korean tourists. These are probably fully chartered.

OP - how many days are you in Sydney for? This way advice can be tailored for the length of your stay. I'd also recommending heading over to the Sydney forum on Trip Advisor.

IMHO Sydney is a city best explored by a mixture of foot power and public transport (just buy an Opal card, load-up and tap-on, tap-off each time you use it). The Rocks, Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Royal Botanical Gardens and the Hyde Park area are all accessible by foot. As has been mentioned, take a ferry to Manly (travel back to Circular Quay around dusk for million dollar views of the Harbour and Opera House) or Tauranga Zoo... that'll keep you occupied.

If you've only allocated one day for the Blue Mountains, you can use your Opal card to take a train from Central to Katoomba, use either public transport or the HOHO services to see the sights at your pace - oh and also visit Scenic World (the tours go there as well). If you're thinking of taking a tour that includes the Blue Mountains AND Featherdale, it's going to be both a very l-o-n-g day and most likely a box-ticking exercise...

I have booked Dingo tours for September. Has anyone used them?

I have Dingo booked for Dec. I researched a lot, and from what little info I could get, they seemed pretty good. What I like most is that they are "small" tours. I emailed and they said maximum of 14 per tour so that is appealing. But if you could post how your impressions are it'd be really helpful. Hope you have a great tour.

We used a company called Flaming Galah Tours after getting off the ship last year, they built a tour for us which was a 4 hour tour of the Manly area and then dropped us off at the airport.

Flamin' Galah Sydney Tours & Airport Transfers also provides a comprehensive private charter tour service, ideal for couples, families or large groups. Enjoy the flexibility of a private tour, which can be designed specifically around you and your individual preferences. Choose from any of our popular tours e.g. Blue Mountains and Sydney city sights tours OR choose a more "off the beaten track" experience and enjoy the splendour of Sydney away from the crowds.

They also specialise in Home & Away tours to Summer Bay. For some reason the FGT website isn't loading properly but the latter is http://www.officialhomeandawaytour.com.au/

I can highly recommend them on the service we received. :D
