Hi folks!

We will visit friends an a stop of our next cruise. We want to bring some wine from at home for our friends. Since the wine will be confiscated when boarding, can we have it back when going ashore during the cruise, in order to give it as a gift to our friend?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers
DJ

PS. Should we bring the wine in our carry on, when boarding?

if you pay $15 corkage fee per bottle on embarkation you wont have it confiscated and can keep it with you/take it off when you visit your friends. Is the wine of sufficient value to add that $15 to it?

if you don't pay the corkage fee or try it sneak it on in checked luggage and it's found it will be confiscated
you will be able to collect it last night of the cruise but not before

Always put wine in your carry on. If you put it in your main cases then it can cause problems. Unless you are trying to sneak it, which probably won't work.

The wine isn't necessarily confiscated when you board. The presumption would be that you want to drink it onboard, so they would want to charge you $15 corkage.

If you don't pay the corkage then they will take it away for storage and will be available to collect on the last night. You could ask for it to be made available earlier for you to take off the ship, but I wouldn't rely on it. Depending on the ports that may not even be allowed anyway.

Your best chance of doing it would probably be to pay the corkage and then walk off with the wine. However that would cost you $15 a bottle and they may stop you taking it off anyway if they spot it.

Personally, every option sounds like more hassle than it's worth to me.

No, what you are suggesting won't be an option. You'll have two choices upon boarding: 1. Pay the $15 per bottle corkage fee and then you can take the wine onboard and take it with you in port or 2. Have the wine confiscated and held until the end of the cruise. There's no in between to retrieve the wine in the middle - if there were then people trying to get around the corkage fee would simply do that and then not take it off in port.

Perhaps you can purchase the wine in port or bring something besides wine for your friends.

Leave your wine at home. Not a good idea at all.

You MUST hand carry all wine on the ship.

You MUST pay corkage for all wine.

If you give your wine to store, you will get it back on the last night of he cruise.

Leave your wine at home.

Thanks everybody to help me on this topic.

So, I'll leave the wine at home. It's not worth the effort with those restrictions. Too bad for our friends.....

Have great cruises!
