Current info on Alitalia needed

We're trying to book a flight JFK-FCO at the end of October. The non-stop flights on DL indicate the flight is operated by Alitalia. I thought they were in bankruptcy. What's the story? I've always been reluctant to fly Alitalia because of its reputation and even more now unless the knowledgeable fliers here can explain its status.

Alitalia is still operating under bankruptcy protections. Binding bids for the company have had their deadline extended to mid-October. And the next procedural step is in November.

What exactly is your concern? If you are buying DL tickets and the JFK-FCO route is suspended by AZ, DL will reroute you.
