Jewel of the Seas disembark from Rome port

Those who have recently cruised with Jewel and disembarked at Rome port, Citiavecchia......please advise what the earliest time passengers could leave the ship to meet their ground transportation needs at the end of the trip. We are taking a car service to Rome as we are staying an extra day, and the company needs us to provide a time for pick up. They charge extra if we do not show on time. Ship gets in at 5am, needs to clears customs, so, can you estimate or remember what time you got off the ship?

Disembarkation is easy in Rome since there is no immigration or customs

to go through , you just walk off the ship to your transportation.

What time you get off may depend on if you walk off with your luggage, if you

have access to the concierge and can get escorted off, or if you go along with

the normal debarkation process. For me, we got walked off the ship at 7:45 am

and had our prearranged shuttle pick us up at 8am. It was pretty chaotic at that

time so maybe around 9:00 would be more comfortable.

Just got off a b2b... first call for self-disembark was 6:45'ish. (I had luggage tag #4 for 7:10am). Last luggage tags for 9:15am I believe. No customs to go through. I too had private driver arranged for 9am.to take us to Rome.

At 8:30am I met the couple we shared our transfer with up on deck 13... and even through the deluge of water and the chaos of the terminal with the once-a-year event rain we received that morning, we were down the elevator, luggage collected, through the mess of fellow cruisers trying to figure out what to do, and meeting the driver at about 8:50am'ish. Civitavecchia is a breeze. Have a great cruise :D

Glad to hear that it won't be raining in CV when we embark in November.:D

Bob, it was terrible. We were rain delayed in FCO for 4 hours and missed our connecting flight home.

Got rebooked for the following day. I had never seen it rain for so hard for so long. I couldn't feel bad because

I was thinking about my FL peeps at home going through much worse.

If I need to get off the ship at a specific time, can I indicate it so my luggage tags will reflect an earlier disembark time? I need to meet a driver for private shuttle to Rome. We have a party of 4.

Also, is it difficult to walk off the ship with your luggage. I am 69 years old with back issues, I've had my knees replaced so I can walk... just concerned with how difficult it may be. I did it in NY once, and swore I'd never do it again. lol

On our Jewel cruise last September (2016), we did express disembarkation, a combo of RCCL handling your bags and early disembarkation. We had a 6:45 am pickup and we made it. We were back to FCO by 8 am for our 10:25 am flight. Not sure you can guarantee such great timing with every cruise. I would agree, since you are staying in Rome one day, you should try for little later pickup.
