Hello, all!

This isn't a River Cruise question, but I have google-searched and checked TripAdvisor and really can't find much info on this tour company and I realized they also run river cruises, so I thought of asking this helpful CC community...

We are considering booking a guided tour of America's Canyonlands in 2019. None of us have seen the Grand Canyon and we are really excited to go. The number of options is really mind-boggling, from roughing it on our own to touring with five-star accommodations. I think we are considering a Tauck escorted tour that looks amazing and includes part of a day on the Grand Canyon Railroad, a flight-seeing trip and dinner on a yacht. This tour is pretty pricey, and I would not want to spend this kind of money and find we have no time to enjoy the sights, as I hear might be the case on other tour groups.

We are also considering an Insight tour, which is virtually the same itinerary but seems like it includes fewer meals and doesn't have the train and offers the flight-seeing for an up-charge. This tour is about half the price (for one or two fewer nights).

I'd appreciate hearing about any experience you might have had with either of these companies, especially if you have taken any land tours with them.

Thanks!!

Tauck's website contains a number of reviews you may find helpful.

I have not been on a land tour with them, but in 2014 I did a river cruise from Bucharest to Amsterdam, and it was superb in both content, and organisation.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if the company's website was the best place to read honest reviews?

You really can't go wrong booking a land tour with Tauck. They are highly rated. I recently booked my first land tour with them after years of DIY trips and I feel very comfortable using Tauck. There are much less expensive tour companies but the consistency of a great product is what you will get with Tauck.

Yes, this seems like it must be so from all I am reading over the past few days. I had never heard of this company until yesterday when my search for Grand Canyon vacations turned it up.

We have loved all our Tauck tours, which include three land tours (Canadian Rockies, the Alps, South Africa) and a river cruise in Europe. Its offerings are always high quality and interesting, and on each tour we have taken, Tauck has provided very special experiences that we remember with such pleasure, and that set its tours apart from those of most of its competitors'. Whether it is a unique 5 star hotel, an amazing restaurant, or a moving cultural experience, Tauck's trips are carefully designed to provide special pleasures and surprise guests with unexpected moments.

Tauck is expensive, and this has limited our travel with them, but I have always been very happy with the tours I have chosen. I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Tauck has an excellent reputation and has been around since before WWII! No other tour company is as experienced. You can...not go wrong!

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I think we will lean toward booking our Grand Canyon vacation through Tauck, or else just planning on our own. But if we're booking the tour, we'll do it the right way!

Now the question is, which one do we choose? The one with the train and one less night in the grand canyon (more expensive, but offers the train and a wildlife safari) or the one without the train, less expensive, but has a night on the rim of the canyon...

I think I will let my family pick. Too much pressure for me!;p

There was a question about why this thread about Tauck land tours is allowed on the River Cruising forum. Here's my take: this is the main place on Cruise Critic for Tauck, so it's here or nowhere. And since this community [like most IME] tends to go off-topic from time to time [!] I don't see it as a major issue.

Thank you very much! I was trying not to be too intrusive but truly didn't know where else to take this question. I have received some very nice help here and some ideas of where else to go. I appreciate everyone's resourcefulness and patience! :)

We have been on MANY Tauck Tours...both river cruises and Land tours and, all I can say, is that they were all OUTSTANDING!

Tauck does a wonderful job in all respects in providing their customers with truly exceptional experiences that will, typically, exceed even the highest of expectations!

Just so you know, I am not employed by Tauck or any other travel company...I just LOVE to travel and travel well and Tauck does fit the bill.

Believe me, you will NOT regret choosing Tauck!!!

Totally agree. We've done 3 land tours with Tauck, and all have been great. They are definitely top-drawer. We recently did a riverboat cruise with them - same thing. They pay attention to every detail and take really good care of their passengers throughout the trip. My advice...go and enjoy! I highly suspect you'll come home with few (if any) disappointments.

We have done a Tauck river cruise and several ABDs, including their Grand Canyon adventure I would give the nod to ABD for service, but just barely. Tauck was also great. Just more personal attention from the Disney guides.

As to your question about staying on the rim - check which park hotel it will be. We have rarely hated a hotel as much as we did the Thunderbird Inn. The other properties are nicer.
