San Antonio, Chile to Los Angeles

Has anyone sailed this itinerary before? We are booked from Buenos Aires to LA but thinking of leaving the ship in San Antonio, Chile and later that year or 2020 doing a Miami to LA through the canal. We would miss a few SA ports but adding the canal trip for about the same $$ is alluring. Already have done Machu Picchu.

thoughts anyone.

Thanks:)

I can't comment on what I haven't seen - and thereby hangs the rub. We've sailed that itinerary twice and on both occasions the Pacific swell was such that it prevented us calling in some of the smaller Chilean ports and curtailed our glacier viewing too. I believe some ports have suffered earthquake damage which further limits the activity in some areas which might also inform your decision. I'm unfamiliar with San Antonio in Chile - the main area affected during both our cruises was south of Valparaiso, so perhaps you can work out which ports on your itinerary you'd miss?
