Princess Cays Past the Gate

Hope to find out if it is worthwhile exploring past the security gate on Princess Cays. We have enjoyed the beach area on past cruises but are considering walking through the gate and visiting the local area.

Besides the shopping stalls, is there anything else to see?

Is there a local village within walking distance?

Scenery or quaint architecture? Old church?

Is it safe?

Any information about what lies outside the gate would be helpful.

We didn't walk beyond the obvious, but all that's there are 2 short strips of shops (maybe 6 vendors on each, selling much the same stuff - shells, T-shirts, local crafts, magnets and keyrings probably made in China, etc.) and one (air-conditioned!) general store. Very safe, out-in-the-open. They check ID on the way in. We bought a $7 T-shirt. Nothing to see as far as we could tell of local culture, whether buildings, people, or food.
