Haven't been on Princess in several years so I have to ask about boarding times/ process. On Royal Caribbean I know there are boarding times you are given but it's not really enforced - you can generally board anytime after about 11. Is this the same with Princess? Do they stick strictly with the boarding times you are given?

Boarding time was 3pm for us, but we went to the pier in Southampton when we had to vacate our hotel room at noon. At no time were we challenged.

Generally in FLL, San Pedro and SF it works this way. if you wish to be on board with the first wave arrive at the pier between 10:30 and 11:00. After checking in you will be shown upstairs to a waiting area and grouped by time of arrival. Boarding normally begins around noon, maybe a little earlier with priority boarders, followed by general boarding. Once started it goes quickly. You should be on board by 12:30. Go directly to your cabin, it will be ready. Any boarding time provided by Princess is a suggestion only. If you want to board with few lines arrive after 1pm.
One DR is open for lunch from noon to 1:30. There are other lunch options depending on the ship including the buffet, Pizza and the Grill by the pool, International Cafe, Alfredo's (in the U.S., Royal, Regal, Grand).

We haven't been aboard Princess in ten years or so, but are booked next year in a full suite aboard the Star Princess out of LA. According to the Princess Website, "VIP priority embarkation &disembarkation at beginning andend of cruise" is one of the amenities for guests in suites. Can anyone tell me what that means in terms of show time at the pier?

Thanks in advance,

Most ports have a separate line for suite/Elite, with separate scanners and definitely a separate waiting area. This group boards right after weddings and Bon Voyage Experience people (if any). If you arrive at port 10:30 - 11:30 you will see this. Boarding starts around 11:30 - 12:00, so once the backlog is loaded there really isn't any priority.

There is a separate lounge for suite/Elite on departure, with coffee and some pastries. Generally they call departure groups from there slightly before groups are called in other waiting areas, and you get escorted to the gangway just ahead of them. You can also ask for earlier groups if you want one.

It simply means if you have arrived and checked-in at the pier before boarding has commenced you will be grouped in the waiting area with like passengers and be among the first group to board the ship. If you arrive after the early crowd has boarded, you will simply walk on after check-in.
