I had fraud on the card I put on file and I’m afraid I will not have my replacement in time I cannot change it online because I am less than 5 days before sailing. Does anyone know if I can change my credit card for onboard purchases at embarkation?

Sometimes you can at embarkation/check-in.

If not..once onboard head to the Pursers Desk and they will make the change for you.

Not sure about embarkation but it’s a lot easier and more convenient to go to the Passenger Services Desk after boarding and have them change your folio credit card directly. It’s probably safer and more accurate.

Yep, or even after you board.

At the Purser’s desk.

For sure change it at the pursers desk. We had a similar situation and made sure they used the new card at embarkation but it never got into our folio. Several days into the cruise we got a letter stating that all our charges were being denied by cc company and please visit the purser. For our B2B2B it happened on every single leg of the cruise!!! I think they just download from the corporate data base and whatever is in there is what they use.

Absolutely doable. Often travel with my 2 sisters. I make all the arrangements so my card is always the one on file. When we get to the check-in each one then registers with their own cards. As others have said, takes a minute or so longer.

It will actually be a bit quicker at check-in because the only thing that will need to be done is the agent will have to scan the new card and then write the last 4 digits on your eBoarding pass and have you initial the change. If you wait and do it at Passenger Services on the ship, they'll have to fill out a form. In either case it will hardly take any time at all and there will be no difference in the safety or the accuracy of the operation as mentioned by someone.

Yes' date=' you can change it at embarkation. No problem at all. It will just take you a minute longer to check in.[/quote']

I agree. We have done this before and it was no big deal as they are going to scan the card anyways.

This made me realize I have an even bigger problem coming up. I'm paying for a cruise including incidentals for several family members. My credit card is on each of their ship board accounts. How do they checkin when they come from the airport on a transfer and we are already checked in as when they checkin, my card needs to be scanned?

May need to start another thread. All ready calling the mother ship! LOL:confused:

The check-in person probably won't even ask them anything about the credit card since there is a valid card linked to the card. They might ask if they want to change the credit card but probably won't as there is no need to ask such a question. If the person being checked in says something along the lines of "I need to change the credit card for my stateroom." or something similar, then they will just have to present the card they want to use, it will be swiped, and the paperwork done and that will be that. If they don't say anything then it can be changed later at Passenger Services on the ship. The cruise line is only concerned that there is either a valid credit card is listed on each card, or that each card is marked as "cash only" and a $300/card has been left with Passenger Services. Otherwise the person with that card will be unable to use that cruise card to make any purchase while onboard the ship. This latter situation is often used for the cruise cards for minor children.

You, however, can have your credit card removed from the cards of the other family members whose purchases you do not want to be held liable for while you are checking in. In that case, if the other family members have already checked in when they attempt to purchase something onboard the ship, that purchase will not go through and they will have to go to Passenger Services and either log in a credit card or make the $300 cash deposit before they can make any purchases. So, to save possible embarassment, make sure that you let the others know that there is now no credit card linked to their cruise card. :o

If the other family members haven't checked in yet, the fact that no credit card is registered to a credit card they will have to register a card at that time.

I trust the family members, so no problem there, and I am taking care of the gratuity that is added on daily to the room. There HAS to be a card on file or special arrangements made or you can't finish checking in.Similar to what you were saying I believe.

After holding for a supervisor with the Mother Ship, Princess does need to swipe my card even though it is on file, or another card needs to be swiped when checking in. This will work for most of us, but I have 2 more flying in in the AM of embarkation and taking the transfer from the airport. Will need to coordinate with them when they checkin, as my card does need to be scanned. Simple phone call should do it.

No problem. Have done this at check in.

It has been a number of years since I have had to show the listed card at Princess check-in. I am just asked if I want to use the listed card. I say "yes" and they do not ask to scan it.

The supervisor has not been checking in people at the cruise terminal.

Princess stopped asking to see or even swipe my credit card at check-in for years.

I suggest that you not worry about this. Just tell your group that if they are asked for a credit card to just say they will have a cash account and will take care of it at the Purser's Desk. They you can straighten it all out when you are on board.

(They will be asked if they want to use the credit card that is in their file (which is your card). To that they can just say "yes.")

I wouldn't tell them that they want to have a cash account because they will then remove the credit card from the cruise card and change it to cash and they won't be able to do anything till they go to Passenger Service. Change it right there at check-in as it's quicker and easier than going to PS.

As others have said, yes you can. You can also put cash on your account if you so desire. Head to the Purser's desk and put cash down and as long as you have enough cash, they'll never touch your cc anyway.

we've done the pay with cash thing before also...I like to prepay as much as possible, PBP, grats , flowers (7+ cruises), specialty dinner maybe..

there will still be other charges to the account like my wifes drinks, and we will throw a few $$ at the casino depending on the smoking situation...

but yeah, check the account, then maybe if cash is still available, depending on excursions, pay some toward the bill..

if not, meh...:halo:

The problem is that they do not want to change it. They want to use the card that was given in the personalizer. If asked to show it at check-in, they could only do so if the card owner stays in the check-in area for hours until everyone in the group using that card has checked in.
