Yikes! It was crowded enough with a Celebrity Solstice load of passengers (under 3000). I can't imagine what it would be like with 5000 passengers.

Still Napier puts on a pretty good show for the cruise ships, playing up it's Art Deco era (minus the earthquake, of course).

Great for the local economy. But not a nice place when the quakes hit. :(

When we were on the Ovation and called in at Napier, it didn't seem crowded at all and the townfolk were out in force and put on a great show for the people who stayed around the town rather than going further abroad.
