Road opens in Kaikoura after earthquake.

Recommended Posts

The road from Picton to Kaikoura reopened today after a mammoth effort .Just goes to show what can be done when not restricted by planning....after all ....nature never got a resource consent for the quake which sent millions of tons of rock covering the road and the tunnels, The new road has been built out into the sea and even the seals that live along the coast have done their bit to help.

from a previous thread............

David, just a slight detour off the topic - how are they going with restoring the road and rail links through Kaikoura that were destroyed in the earthquake? I haven't heard much about it recently.

The video with this clip is a good watch .....
