Princess Cruise in February

We will dock in St. Thomas at 10:00 a.m. and are there until 10:00 p.m., plenty of time to tour St John! We've been to St. Thomas on several occasions and I have wanted to get to St. John forever!

We plan to take the red hook ferry to cruz bay. Once in cruz bay is there a tour company or taxi that will give us a tour of the island and stop at some beaches? Or should we rent a car?

Rent a jeep! You can then check out a few beaches and not have to worry about arranging for a taxi. It is not like other places where you can just find a taxi or tour guide when you get off the ferry, or at the beach to take you to the next one. But remember when driving, KEEP LEFT! they drive on the left side. We love St. John!

We've done a taxi tour on St John before. The great thing was we didn't have to think about where we were going or keep our eyes on the road, we just enjoyed the scenery. Our driver stopped at several overlooks and points of interest.

But great point about a car rental and being able to sample the beaches easily. Sun will still be setting early though.

I'm very envious of your port hours!!

Travelcruzin: Just something for you to consider - During the "high" season (and February IS the "high" season) it is not always possible to find a vehicle for a 1-day rental. On-island visitors have them all on multi-day rentals. In February 2017 before hurricanes we wasted about 2 hrs after our arrival on St. John going from agency to agency looking for a 1-day rental. Safari taxis were always available. Not sure what the current inventory is now.

It may be difficult to beach hop via safari but once you get on any one of the beautiful St. John beaches you won't want to leave anyhow!

I don't think you'll have any problem grabbing a taxi when you get off the ferry in Cruz Bay. Our experience has been that they will take you on a tour, drop you off at a beach, and pick you up at a time of your choosing. I don't recall pricing as it has been a number of years since we've done that. Our last several visits we have stayed on the island, after originally visiting from a cruise ship. We love it! Enjoy!!
