Hi guys,

I’m about to embark on Indy with stops in Gibraltar does anyone know what shopping is like there? I would like to buy nappies for the trip when on board rather than taking up room in our cases for two weeks of nappies.

Also any other tips for cruising with a toddler gratefully received.

Thanks

Indy?? Do you mean Independence of the Seas? If so, you can ask questions about RCI shops at the link below:

Would definitely suggest posting on the RC board. However, seeing as you mentioned you are about to embark you have left it a little late to get information!

Would not plan to purchase diapers or anything baby related on board. You will find a very limited selection and expensive. Anything you need you should take on board with you primarily because of availability and price.

Would suggest taking diapers, wipes, bottles, sippycups, baby spoons, any medications, baby food - you can mash food or staff will mash. Milk is included in your cruise fare.

Make sure you have a pack and play ordered for sleeping.

Remember no swim diapers. Kids have to be fully toilet trained to use pools.

In all honesty, spend the suitcase space and bring with you anything you think you will need. What happens if you can't get what you need and run out?

She can shop in port. They have babies in Gibraltar and the other ports, and they sell baby supplies there.

The Med isn't a third world country. They have babies too, and they wear nappies. Shame to spend shore time shopping, but schlepping all the stuff that goes with babies/toddlers might warrant waiting until the first port to purchase. EM

We have done 3 cruises this year with our baby, we always bring what we need from home. Even if that means that we need a extra bag all the way from Sweden. But if you do deside to shop most of it during the cruise, keep in mind that you might miss a port. If you do, you are going to need a stock of extra nappies.

You should find what you need in the main street, as many of the shops are just the normal UK high street ones, and Morrisons is like the ones at home. If in doubt, ask any local shopkeeper where nappies are sold, as the people in Gib are so helpful and friendly. You'll probably be paying by card, but the UK £ is used- you cannot spend Gib coins in the UK so check your change.

Enjoy Indy- I hear that the new changes are remarkable. :)
