Asa Wright Nature Center?

We were going to go to the Asa Wright Nature Center but decided the drive was too long so we opted for the Emperor Valley Zoo.

Maybe 20 minutes via taxi. We ended up walking back and it took well over an hour.

The zoo turned out to be the hit of the trip!

We somehow hooked up with the head zookeeper and he gave us an exclusive tour. My wife got to have a (small) python placed around her neck by the zookeeper (she hates snakes, too) and we saw a number of animals close up.

There was actually one giant alligator that was under a small walking bridge and we thought it was a fake as there was no fencing around it. Almost walked up to it when it took a gulp and scared us back to the bridge!

About US$5/pp entry. Can’t remember the taxi cost but was minimal.

So if AsaWright doesn’t work out (got good reviews on trip advisor), try the zoo.

Have a wonderful time! J
