Just off oasis have ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We got off the Oasis today, I will be writing a review the next day or two. If you have any questions ask them here and I try to answer here or in my review.

I will say everything was perfect with two exceptions, Chops being an OVERALL HORRIBLE experience, the worst dining experience we ever had ever in ten years and they had alot of seafood in the buffet yesterday....tons of peeled shrimp, crawfish and other types of fish and mussles and it was all not good, too soft/mushy and a strong smell and taste of seafood. Its a shame, this could of been prevented by serving these items earlier in the week, unless they had to get rid of these items?

Ship overall is in very good condition, honestly, been reading reviews that isn't and believe me that is not the case! Never found a problem with any service. My sister and brother in law had the five night dining package, we had the ultimate dining package so they went to the MDR twice and they said it was just fine. They also had a boardwalk cabin and said it was always noisey between 10am-10pm, and my sister got so sick of hearing the same songs being played out there over and over again. They NEVER get another boardwalk balcony, but this is why if you have one you get some complimentary tickets to Johnny Rockets and the soda package, its not worth the noise they said.

I would advise you all never to use the robes inside the cabins, my father in law and us had a JS and dads closet stunk so bad, we had no idea why but everyday the cabin steward would come in and clean the carpet, this morning he woke up and said the closet stunk so bad and he figured out it was coming from the robes, they were used and smelled like body odor!

I have to say for a buffet at the windjammer there were tons of items each meal, all edible and fresh and very good.

We had some noro virus on this ship and the staff made sure people use purell before coming into the windjammer plus they were doing extra cleaning. We were not affected but know of a family of 8, 5 of them had to be quarantined in their cabin from the second day to the fifth day of the cruise.

I will post a lengthly review to follow.

Will be going on Oasis in January 2019 and wondered how bad the smoking was in the casino? I have nothing against smokers, but will be going with another couple and one of them has a severe allergy to smoke. Thanks.

I was also on Oasis last week and the smoke in the casino was enough that anyone with a severe allergy would probably want to avoid it. The casino is well ventilated but some smoke is unavoidable.

I think its difficult to determine how the smoke is because it varies depending upon how many smokers are in the casino. The first two days was on the smokey side, nothing to make me leave but it was definitely noticeable and better after day two for sure. It did not bother me.

Carolina Girl 99 RC is so much better than the NCL...been on the Breakaway and swore never again NCL, their ships are not laid out as nicely and definitely feel more crowds on NCL than RC. I only heard negative things comparing MSC vs RC.

The smoke is bad. It also seeps out of the casino and affects the venues nearby. RCCL needs to go completely smoke free.

I just got here to check on things, I came down with the Norovirus on the way home yesterday...luckily I made it home. I have to get back to bed will write a review when this is all over with. I have had noro in the past from a Carnival cruise many years ago so I know I have the same thing...I truly believe on the last evening, I ordered a Caesar salad in one of the specialty restaurants (it was off the menu item) and I am reading just within 3 days there has been numerous recalls in romaine lettuce due to e coli, in 16 states, so I wonder did I get it from lettuce or was it from something else...nobody else in our party ordered the salad which makes me wonder.

e. coli doesn't cause norovirus - Noroviruses cause it, so if you actually have a noro infection (not all GI issues are caused by noro), it wasn't from the recalled romaine.

I dunno what it is with Chops on Oasis, but it's always been one of the weakest specialty restaurants on that ship every time we've gone there. It's never been *bad,* but it's always been significantly below everything but that fish shack that they ditched years ago.

Other ships, it's great, but it almost seems to be the training ground for very new staffers on Oasis.

Wow. But the RULE is you can smoke in the casino. So you want to change the Rule of Law?

Absolutely. I have been on a campaign to change the smoking polices in the Casino. I write to Royal just about every chance I get. I am also a Casino Player and I do believe my comments to Royal have their ear.

I had lunch with Michael Bailey in September and we discussed this. Lets see what happens over the next 12 months.

There are proper ways to change rules. Smuggling alcohol onboard is not a way to change policy.

Up for a few minutes then back to bed.....I do have to say, Eslader I agree totally with you, Chops always been the weakest restaurant but this time it was totally horrible, an overall bad experience, I will write in my review when I am feeling better.

About the smoke in the casino, all casino's have smoking, ...RC is trying by having a smoking and nonsmoking side, I can't see them doing anything more except maybe better quality air filters in the casino. You know, there used to be a non smoking ship, the Carnival Paradise, it was launched in 1998 and not only was smoking banned there were no smoking materials allowed on the ship but in 2003 the policy was reversed claiming they had poor revenue (not sure if it was an excuse) but they said. non smokers tend to not drink or gamble as much as those accustomed to smoke...who knows...but I take the side of the smokers and want it remain for them only because there is no such thing as a non smoking casino.

Royal is not Carnival. Celebrity has gone to non smoking. Smoking is becoming a thing of the past and besides, its a health risk to others.

... because there is no such thing as a non smoking casino.

And this is the great thing about Australia. Every state in Australia has outlawed indoor smoking in public spaces, including casinos. Even top VIPs are not permitted to smoke in their private gaming lounges.

Every cruise out of Australia is smoke free indoors as well. I never have a problem with second hand smoke in Royal's casinos simply because there isn't any. The casinos are still quite busy and profitable for them without the smokers in there. Bring on a fleet-wide ban of casino smoking I say!!

I agree but I don't see it a health risk for just a week, its long term inhalation of smoke that gives health problems not a weeks time.

It's not all about "you" - meaning any cruiser.

Consider the workers who are there day after day, week after week, month after month.

Agree, indoor smoking ban in Royal Casinos's is coming. On Serenade in Dec can't remember but we had either the 1st or 2nd Formal nite was smoke free in Casino. My daughters Allergies and Asthma is so bad she can't go in the casino's. Two of my Aunts have COPD being around a smoker for 30 yrs...

We were on Oasis 2 weeks ago. Only went into the casino 1 night for about 30 minutes and when I got back to my room my clothes wreaked of cigarettes. YUCK!
