Heyyyy My CC Peps! This is my 1st review (so please bear with me :)). I've been stalking reviews on CC and have been a part of a couple roll calls for some time now and decided to add my 2 cents. This is a quick review with a few pictures.

So A little introduction, I'm Melvina (40) and my Hubby is Richard (43), we reside in the endless summer state of Florida, Fort Lauderdale to be exact. We have 4 children ( 9,18, 21,24) a glam daughter (4) yes glam daughter (no typo) and a yorkie, Max (5).

We have only cruised with Carnival and always from the Port of Miami, even though Port of Everglades is much closer, It has just always worked out for us this way. We almost cruised out of Tampa and I say almost because we missed our cruise .. yes MISSED . We booked Paradise a couple years ago out of Tampa because my DH had received a casino deal that we couldn't pass up and it was only on select sailings, Tampa is about a 4 hour drive from us, so we decided to drive there on our sailing date, needless to say halfway through our trip, I remembered we didn't have our passports, birth certificates or any documents needed to board the cruise and no one at home who could have faxed or copied the info for us, so we turned around, grabbed our documents and tried to make it to Tampa. We did call Carnival to tell them we were running late, but was told if we didn't get there by 4 we couldn't board. We got there about 4:15, ship was still there but no porters and we still hadn't parked our vehicle. So long story short we missed our cruise and was refunded a portion of our money a few weeks later.... I'm going to change the subject now, because it makes me wanna cry just thinking about it.

Anyway ...This was my 5th cruise and DH's 4th. This was a kid free cruise for us as we were celebrating our 18th Anniversary!!!!

We booked this cruise in August so we had 6 months of torture... reading reviews, roll calls, looking at pictures and counting down the days that we’ll be on the Vista (OK maybe not WE but ME).

Thanks to reviews and threads on CC I learned about:

--- Carnival Cruise Line gift cards at 10 % percent savings through AARP We paid for the cruise with these gift cards and also brought some to add to our sail and sign cards.

---Downloaded the Carnival Hub

---Prepaid for the social media package which saved I think a dollar a day and also brought a case of water to be delivered to the room.

---Had the kids to download WhatsApp and FB messenger so we can communicate.

About 2 days before our cruise I had gotten a missed call from Carnival, but no voicemail, So I called Carnival and spoke with a Rep who told me she wasn't sure who called me and why. Only to find out via email it was a call from the Upgrade fairy:mad:

I Tried calling Micheal back at least a dozen times and got no answer and no call back.. Tried speaking with another Rep Who told me the call was not for an upgrade as the Cruise was sold out ... OK WHATEVER, I guess better luck next time. I probably wouldn’t have upgraded anyway unless it was midship, as I’m prone to getting seasick and was advised to stay midship lower decks.. This cruise would be my 2nd time on Deck 7. I usually go for Main or Riviera.

Embarkation Day: Sunday 02/18/18 up next

EMBARKATION DAY: SUNDAY 02/18/18

Bags are packed with their luggage tags, health form and boarding passes printed, passports packed, bonine chewed and sea-bands applied.

It's our turn to board this beautiful ship that I've read so much about!!!

Coincidentally, after booking and talking with friends we found out there were 4 other couples all celebrating anniversaries or birthdays and all around the same age group.

We all live local and had different check-in times. None of us are platinum or diamond and did not pay for FTTF. 6 of us decided to ride together and park at the port which is directly across the street and $22 a day(no need to reserve and you pay at the end of you cruise)...The other 4 were dropped off.

We arrived at the port a little after 1:30, dropped our bags off at the porter and headed inside the terminal. To my surprise there was no line no waiting. We showed our boarding pass, They scanned our passport with a hand held device and there was no mention of the health form. I'm assuming all is electronic now. We went through the metal detectors and were given the Ok to head up to check-in...When we got upstairs there were no lines at the check-in desk.. as a matter of fact there was no one at the check-in desks. Our pictures were not Taken. We showed our boarding pass and was directed to take our embarkation picture and got on to the ship......YAYYY!!! That had to be the most smoothest check-in ever.
