National Express Coach

Can we buy tickets at the Heathrow Airport for transportation to Southampton on National Express Coach? Where does it drop you off? We are staying in Southampton 2 days prior to cruise.

Coach station is a few minutes walk from West Quay shopping mall. Unless your hotel is billed as within walking distance of the latter a taxi ride will be in order.

Substantial discounts on Coach fares can be found by prepaying online for non-refundable, non-changeable tickets. If you wish to gamble that your flight will be on time and your guess at how long it will take to pass through Immigration is correct.

We recently purchased their amenable (can change departure time) but non-refundable ticket from LHR to the Southampton Coach Station. We paid extra for their Flexible Airport Journey option which allows passengers to board any available coach 12 hours before or after the planned departure time.

Here's the cost for our ticket purchased in May one month in advance for 2 passengers departing LHR at 13:15.

• Ticket: 36 GBP
  
• Booking fee: 1 GBP
  
• Flexible airport journey: 10 GBP
  
• Seat reservation at front of bus: 4 GBP
  

That's 51 GBP ($69.33) for the 2 hour ride from LHR to Southampton & the hotel was easily walkable from the coach station.

"amenable " sure, but I suspect you meant amendable... :)

For T2 & T3 use the Central Bus station. T4 & T5 have their own stop just outside the terminal. Although you can buy your ticket at the airport, I would strongly recommend pre booking to ensure you get a seat and its often cheaper too.
