DUNN'S RIVER FALL [emoji1135]

DH such a good sport!!![emoji2]

It took us about an hour or so to climb the falls and then we headed to the locker for our things. Dale said that he’d be back for us at noon.

You have to exit through a small market and be warned the locals are a little pushy on trying to sell their items. We tried a simple “no thank you and not today” and they replied with “If not today then when tomorrow?”

I stopped at one “shop” because I wanted to buy a shot glass and a guy told me he had a special 1 for $4 and 2 for $8 ... Wait, What, Really??

I brought 1 and dodged all the other vendors before exiting.

(I try and buy a shot glass at every port or state I visit)

We made it and no one got hurt yayyyy!!! (Yeah

there were some falls, but no broken limbs or missing teeth[emoji119])

They have pictures ($10) and videos (40$$)

to purchase of your climb/fall [emoji854]

I really enjoyed Dunn’s, but my DH said one and done for him.

We meet Dale in the parking lot and asked him to take us to a Jamaican Restaurant.

We pulled up to a shopping plaza with a restaurant called Mainland China & Tandoor. “Wait a minute Dale we don’t want Chinese food. We’re in Jamaica and we want the good stuff.” He assured us it was not Chinese food. He also introduced us to a lady, Nikki the negotiator who he said will show us around the shops. [emoji849]

No thank you Nikki, we just want to grab a bite to eat and head to Mystic Dunes.

We were seated and I glanced at the menu and noticed it was a la carte .. I understand I’m in a tourist area, but I have never payed $10 for a 2 piece (leg and thigh) no rice, peas, not even a pickle included. Well I bit the bullet because everybody else wanted to stay. The husband had oxtail, rice and peas and salad and I had jerk chicken with a side of plantains. We both had 1 (so called) alcoholic beverage and our total was $49+ the tip.. too much for lunch IMO. I guess I’m used to our Jamaican restaurants at home where a dinner or lunch comes with the sides included. The food was Alright and the drink could have used a little more alcohol for the price. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The so called alcoholic beverage.. Good flavor...but can I have a little more rum please????

Dale was outside waiting for us when we came out of the restaurant. We got in the van and sat in our previous seats. About 5 new people got on the van at the plaza and 1 of the women started arguing with one of our friends accusing him of moving her purse and towel off the seat, she was clearly upset. Hellooo ma’am we didn’t move anything, We didn’t even know there was other people on this van. Well the argument went on for about 5 minutes before Dale told her he had moved her things.. Shame on you Dale. I understand that this is your business and you’re trying to make money.. but please don’t tell us, you’ll be with us all day and take us wherever we wanted to go and then pick up other passengers, move their things and not clear things up when an argument pursue.

There was a little tension for a little bit, but we’re all on vacation. “Can we all just get along.”

Dale took us to an area up a hill that overlooked the ship, we got out and took a couple of pictures, of course while we were there the locals tried selling food and would take pictures on a professional camera to sell. We declined.

We left there and headed down the hill and out jumps a loca man (I meant local man ) 🤫in front of the van he started doing back flips down the hill. He must’ve did about 30 flips sometimes with one hand and sometimes 2 Apparently he does this for tips because Dale stopped the van and winded the window down, we all gave him a few dollars.

A short drive down out jumps another local man dressed like a tree doing a dance. Sorry tree man, we just tipped your brother flip man [emoji849]

Wasn't quick enough with the camera for flip man But here is Tree man

Dale took us on a little tour of the city and about 2 more markets, we told Dale we were not interested in shopping and stayed in the van.

OMG [emoji44] those gas prices.

Beautiful houses on a hill.

Dale must’ve forgot we wanted to go to Mystic Dunes because our next stop was at the port [emoji35]

We payed Dale and asked that he didn’t take us through the gates as we spotted a liquor store and I wanted to buy some rum. We walked back through the gates dodged the Pier side vendors and headed onto the ship, you have to stop and drop off any liquor purchases and towels you have borrowed at a desk they have set up in the Gangway.

When we got back on the ship, we went on Lido for some Guys Burgers and ice cream. Me and DH relaxed in the jacuzzi and watched as we sailed away. While in the jacuzzi We meet a man and woman both from NY that worked for the school system. We had a conversation about the Mass school shooting in Parkland, FL that took place a week or so before our cruise. That incident was so heartbreaking and so close to home as the school is about 20 minutes from my home. RIP to the 17 lives lost.

The hubby and I headed to the cabin to shower and rest for a bit before dinner and the White Night Party. (no towel animal today [emoji35])

I unpacked my back pack and look what I found:

2e3d19eac83912c6b6692ccec1d3dbf0.jpg

I Guess I forgot to return the lock and key. I know I’m too young for this kinda forgetfulness, but I can explain, after we got our things from the locker @ Dunn's, I stood In the Line to return the key and was told I have to return it at the entrance since I paid with a credit card. I was so busy dodging the vendors at the exit that It slipped my mind. (I guess I payed for it in a way.. because I didn’t get my $3 refund [emoji57])

PORT DAY Jamaica [emoji1135] Tuesday 02/20/18

After showering and resting we meet our friends for dinner at 8:15. It was cruise casual night. (sorry no food porn). Only 6 of us showed for dinner tonight. Service was fast and dinner was good. I think this was the night I tried Ox tongue under “rare finds” on the menu. It was the most tender beef I have ever eaten. We left dinner and the hubby and I headed to the Limelight Lounge and caught the Comedy Show. There wasn’t many seats left but we got lucky enough to find 2 next to each other after squeezing into a tight spot. We enjoyed the comedy Show and then headed to the Casino where I lost a portion of my $200 limit for the cruise and then off to the Atrium for the Electric White Night Party.

Electric White night Video

I loved the guy in the video. I can sit and watch him dance all night and The DJ was great!!!

We then headed to Limelight Lounge Club. (I didn’t realize this was where they held the comedy show as well). Tonight the DJ was a little better than before he actually played a few songs that we recognized so we danced for a bit and had a few drinks and I turned in about 1am, DH wanted to play a few hands of blackjack.

PORT DAY GRAND CAYMAN ISLANDS WEDNESDAY 02/21/18

Let me start by saying this “quick review” has taken me longer than I thought. The next few days on the cruise should be quick. [emoji12]

Thanks to everyone who is reading and following along!!!

DH and I was in no hurry to get off the ship. DH said he was on vacation and didn’t want to set any alarms. We headed up to breakfast on the Lido about 9:30, I opted for an omelette and DH ate at the buffet. The others ate breakfast in the dining room and texted us on whats app that they will let us know when they’re heading down to the gangway. It took at least 25 minutes for me to get my omelette. There was 2 lines and each had about 5 people. I swear 4 of the 5 people ordered 2 omelettes which made the wait even longer. There was 2 guys making omelettes one made 2 at a time while the other made 3. While I was waiting in line I was sure DH was sitting, eating and enjoying but apparently the buffet line was just as long, because by the time I got my omelette DH was just making it around to make his plate. We ate and was lucky enough to find 2 loungers on Lido where we relaxed for sometime and waited for a text from our friends that they were heading to the gangway at 11 to catch a tender to the island.

I think there was actually 2 gangways on each side of the ship so there was no line.

2 from our group decided to get off the boat early and explore Grand Cayman. This was the DH and I 2nd time at this port and DH was not interested in stingray city or going to Hell.. we got off and realized neither one of us had our wallets. So we had to catch a tender back onto the ship.. luckily again there was no wait.

We finally tendered (again) and meet up with our group that was already at the port. No one in our group had planned any excursions. We spoke with a few vendors to see what they had to offer as far as excursions and tours but nothing really interested us so we decided to do our own thing and make it a beach day, with the hopes of renting jet skis and maybe parasailing once we get there.

PORT DAY GRAND CAYMAN ISLANDS WEDNESDAY 02/21/18

The 8 of us decided to catch a taxi.

2882fb21a6d7ce05be81a1f8b052ee52.jpg

US packed like sardines in the van.

f842d1ad894ef0a6e3849c3b98fec6db.jpg

OK now this was much better.. Some passengers had got off at the 1st stop.. I believe it was a resort.

I think the cab ride was $6 or $8 each from the port and about a 10 minute ride to Calico Jack’s on 7 mile beach. There is no entry fee and free WiFi , but They would like for you to purchase food, drinks and rent chairs...etc

1d482403139d52797a109c7e2cedcae8.jpg

We found a vendor a short walk on the beach that had jet ski and banana boat rentals. The jet ski for 2 was $50 for 1/2 hour and much cheaper than what we were offered when we 1st got off the ship at port.

The 8 of us agreed to ride the jet ski and would go 2 couples at a time while the other 2 couples stayed behind and watched our bags. (There are no locker rentals at Calico's). Me and the Hubby and another couple went 1st, the other couple drove for every bit of 3 minutes before falling and the renters policy stated if the jetski flipped that was the end of your ride with no refund. (That sucks). By the time me and DH got back on land the other 2 couples changed their minds about riding. I guess they didn’t want to wipeout and the ladies didn't want to risk getting their hair wet.[emoji57]

I had my snorkel gear with me so I snorkeled for a bit, I guess the spot I was in wasn’t a good spot because I only saw a few small fish.

DH made me get out the water [emoji19]

It was time to wrap things up. Calicos' have an outdoor shower to wash the sand away and bathrooms. I think it had about 3 stalls.

In the 2 pictures above I didn't notice before but there is blue chairs with blue umbrellas and then white chairs with yellow umbrellas. Im not really sure if any of those sets of chairs was from Calico Jack's or if both were from private vendors on the beach.

We left Calicos at about 2:30 because we had to be back at the port by 3:15 for the last tender. We knew it was a short ride back. The 8 of us got on the bus and waited about 10 minutes before the DH got nervous that we wouldn’t make it back on time and asked the bus driver to take us back now because we had to be at port. well the driver refused because the bus was not full. A couple of the guys got out the van and insisted, another bus driver agreed to take us back. The line at the port was soooooo long it was wrapped around and around. Hey we’re in the line they won’t leave if they know at least a 1/4 of the passengers were in line waiting to catch the tender back right? We grabbed some snacks (The Tortuga rum cakes are the bomb) and then waited and waited and waited (OK you get the point). We must’ve waited in line for at least 30 minutes... and that was because someone in our group skipped the line...and we all followed suit. Hey this is my review and I'm giving you the good, bad and the ugly. (bite me) [emoji51].

Once back on board we all headed to Lido. Some of us had pizza and others had Guy's for lunch, Us girls got in the jacuzzi for a bit, partook in some acoholic beverages and watched as the ship sailed away. The ship was very rocky, we actually felt the rocking while sitting in the jacuzzi.

Me and DH didn't do much tonight. I think we showered and napped for a while, skipped dinner in the MDR and played at the casino and had late night pizza and snacks and called it a night.
