Works for me. If they are that afraid of the Medallion technology then they would be better off sailing another line. Of course Carnival Corp. has said they eventually want to roll the tech out to all of their lines. Not my problem. I'm not afraid of the new tech.

I am with you on this. I just don't understand the paranoia.

Plus I've read both RCL and NCL are working on similar tech. I'd bet that within 10 years every ship at sea will have some variation.

With this be right after they finish the roll out of share to all the promised ships?

I'm not scared of tech. I'm scared of princess tech.

All passengers are stuck waiting while these folks are laboriously tracked down by staff. It can mean a delay of an hour. With the Medallion staff can quickly and easily locate these folks thereby eliminating the unreasonable wait that all the rest of the passengers previously had to endure. I think it's great.
Thrak,
Your right only if the passengers don't have the Medallion wrapped in aluminum foil.

Never been on a B2B myself, but I believe that I've seen messages on CC where someone has said that on some cruises those doing B2B cruises are told to all meet in a specific area of the ship and the CBP people come on the ship and process those passengers there on the ship and they don't have to go ashore. Don't know if that is still done at some ports or not.

There have been lots of threads about the medallions.

People here like to discuss everything about princess, including new things.
People have posted interesting tidbits -- like a link to the video where
Donald Arnold is discussing the medallions.

I think working2insult needs to work harder, so she can cruise more,
and be less cranky.

Now how is this not scarier than using a Medallion. LOL

We're booked on the first cruise of Caribbean Princess with the medallions (next March). Looking forward to trying it, however, from what I read, you will have to use it with your smart phone, and Princess never does apps for MY smart phone. So I will have very limited access to the technology. We shall see.

I was originally opposed to the medallion, not because I'm a techno-phobe, but because I thought it would result in a lot of spam advertising, with the marketing people targeting where the passengers were spending their time. Now, before anyone says, "But what about Facebook? There's no privacy at all there", I agree with you ! That's why I don't have a Facebook account.

However, once I boarded the ship last week, I realized that advertising was everywhere, and there's no way to avoid it. I turned on the tv, hoping to find a travel video about Ketchikan, but instead I found the channel with Todd from Texas. Anyone here know Todd?? He's the fast-talking Shopping Mgr. on the Emerald, and boy oh boy, does he ever want to sell you an expensive wristwatch or diamond jewelry from the EFFY store ! LOL. There's no getting away from Todd. Every night, in our little plexiglass mailbox, we received a lot of advertising flyers, inviting us to the art auction, to a free presentation on all sorts of things, on invitations to visit the Lotus Spa, the CrabShack, the Future Cruise office, and of course, Todd's seminar on buying wristwatches. Tons of paper advertising. So, the advertising is already all over the place.

Then, one day after we returned home, I received a phone call from a Princess marketing agent. This is what she told me, "We saw that through your e-mail address, you were visiting our cruise page and were looking at future cruises." ( Wow. Princess marketing must have software "cookies" that provide a list of who is looking at their site, then they capture the e-mail address, which provides them with the passengers' phone number).

There's no place to hide, even when I wear my baseball cap with the tinfoil in it ! Princess can still find me and sell me another cruise, 36 hours after I disembarked ! LOL
Therefore, it just doesn't matter anymore about the medallion. Nothing to worry about.

And, if anyone doesn't want to be disturbed in his/her cabin, just take the little blue plastic card ( very low tech, I must say ) stored on the back of the door, and insert it into the slot on the front ot the door. MIssion accomplished !

You will have 100% access to all that the system offers.

This is because there are hundreds of smart screens around the ship that you can go up to and use. In addition, some of the functions of the system will be accessible from your interactive cabin TV.

I have never received a phone call from Princess such as you describe. I am on the Princess site quite frequently looking at all kinds of cruises in addition to those we have booked.

So any bets on how many divorces the medallion will cause when wife/husband/ is somewhere their partner doesn't like. Such as casino, bar etc.

Sounds to me like, in cases such as that, there are far more issues than the Medallion.
