Amazing job on the video...did he ever hear from Bob or Carnival? Did they offer him anything to cruise with them again????
^

The answer is further down on the page:

I got a response back from my certified delivery of the DVD i sent to "Bob" at Carnival Cruise Lines. My DVD was sent back to me, and a form letter stating to call customer service. I don't think BOB ever saw the DVD.

CARNIVAL...WAKE UP (and this goes for anyone in customer service)! Deliver what you advertise and promise. We spend SO much money on these trips and deserve to get what we paid for! Carnival, send the family to Hawaii and make sure these things don't happen again! Weather you can't control but poor customer sevice and cleanliness you certainly can!!

I thought the video was halarious.

Letsee:

Ports of call changed

Progresso was a port of call

Ghetto level room

Laundry room smell

TV didn't work for excursions

Excursion problem with the lines

Restaurants closed while in port

Cozumel lacked excursions

Barf bags and Titanic music playing

Perfect Storm on the movie channel

Dirty lampshades

CD player skipped

Basketball net torn

Six and a half hours to get off

Set aside the production values of his video and my response is "whaa-whaa-whaa". He's begging for a Hawaii vacation after posting this video? Seems to me, 75% of his gripes are nit-pickey or could have been solved with a simple request to a cabin steward or management.

The only thing I think he has a major gripe about is the disembark. The rest should be "make the best of it". Find your own fun. I found this very funny until the end when he basically told Carnival to send him to Hawaii or else. I think the most he would have gotten if he handled it correctly would be credit toward another cruise.

It's like having a flat tire on your Ford Escort and asking for an Porche.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's all little things.

Why not ask for his cruise fare to be refunded? That would be the logical solution. Not a free cruise to Hawaii. :(

My hamburger wasn't cooked right....I want a free steak......

Ugh...

I think it was a very creative way to voice a complaint. I also think that the request for a trip to Hawaii was sarcasm.

It is all of the 'little' things which, when added up, can make or break a cruise/vacation. We have been very lucky, and have had very few problems on our cruises. I find it interesting that many posters on this board are ultra defensive when others post negative cruise experiences. We all work hard for our money, and look forward with great anticipation to our vacatons. I would be greatly disappointed if the toilets backed up, the air conditioning didn't work (especially in the tropics), my cabin was changed, there was a foul smell in the hallways, no food was available while in ports, or many or all of the ports were changed (although the cruise lines clearly note the right to do so), or any combination of any of the many complaints which have been posted on the boards.

By the way, I hold stock in a major cruise line, and also work for a large corporation. Customer service is the name of the game. Right or wrong, the customer is always right.

Flame if you will, however, I read these boards more often than I post, and fully expect flack from those who habitually feel the need to dish it out.

I think the video is hilarious and yet pathetic.

Ports of call changes: As soon as you walked into the stateroom and saw that the ports of call were changed, you could have walked down to the gan gway and disembarked before departure. Why did you choose to continue on with your cruise?

Progresso: Not much to do there, but hey, you're on vacation, so make the best of it.

Ghetto Level: Sounds like your TA likes you and appreciates your business.

Laundry Room Smell: Same as "Ghetto Level" answer.

Excursions TV: Someone forgot to change the tape over.

Excursion Lines: You find these on most cruise ships

Restaurants closed while in port: Hmmm, I wonder how the rest of the passengers who didn't disembark eat lunch...

Cozumel lacked excursions: Because a hurricane hit, what did you expect? You knew about this prior to your cruise.

Barf bags and Titanic music: You are lucky that they put barf bags everywhere, otherwise you would have been stepping on some nasty leftovers from other passengers. The music was to make the experiece of throwing up a more classy one.

Perfect Storm on movie channel: And who made you watch that channel? You think you are the only one on this cruise ship?

Dirty lampshades: You're on Carnival, what did you expect, a perfectly clean stateroom?

CD Player skipped: Write a letter to corp. and tell them to get Sonys. Anyways, did you go on this cruise just to listen to the CD/DVD player? Next time, take your own.

Basketball net torn: You're lucky that they offer a basketball court. Did you notify maintenance or the purser's desk about this?

6 1/2 hours to get off: Carnival knew that you enjoyed your cruise so much, that they wanted to let you have the maximum amount of time on the ship before having to get off. Sounds like a US Customs problem, not the cruise line....but US Customs and Carnival Corp. are in a conspiracy to make your life a living nightmare at the end of your wonderful cruise.

He wants Hawaii as a pay back. Some people just never learn. And to all of those who have never cruised on Carnival, don't kid yourself, there are many cruisers just like this loser who cruise on RCI, Princess and the rest of the cruise lines.

Did anyone ever find out what this guy actually enjoyed on the cruise?

No flaming Nan. I completely understand. Customer service is the name of the game. However, no cruise is perfect. You have to have the ability to let some of it roll off your back.

My thing is the way he went about it. His video is one big overblown "His-side-of-the-story" for all the world to see. I had a good friend take a cruise several years ago out of Galveston and the AC went out. The news had it front and center as "The Cruise From Hell!" He said, they slept on the decks, a lot of free stuff and discounts, and he had the time of his life! There were others, however, who said they would never leave land again. He got 1/2 off his next cruise (he wasn't expecting anything).

My "moral to the story" is to make your own vacation and don't raise your expectations to set yourself up for disappointment. He didn't mention anything about the food, quality of entertainment, etc. He complained about the ports (which were battered days earlier by a hurricane) and the quality of the ship itself (did anybody give him this website for the future?).

Having to watch A Perfect Storm on a boat does not equal a free vacation.

(However, having to listen to Celine Dion sing over and over might be the equivalent of cruel and unusual punishment in prison)

I'm not so sure this is not just a parody, kind of like the "free cruise" jokes on here.

Either way the guy is obvisouly not hurting for money if he can afford video production of that level. In my area, studio time is usually $125.00 per hour.

That guy has to be in the advertising/media business. That set he was in and the graphics aren't easy to come by. I have sailed Carnival 6 times and the only problem I had: 1. cancelled excursions, Progresso, too many kids.

That's why I am now booked on RCCL. Basically the same price and better service and they don't go to Progresso.

I sent an email today to the address at the end of the video and got this reponse.

I received a 20% off next cruise coupon for my family.

J

Doesn't seem quite fair to me. I don't know what would be fair though.

Ok, watching the video and I do agree either this guy makes $$ or is in the business to make such a audio production.

Now for my honest opinion on it. I have personally cruised Carnival 6 times and I believe their level of service has declined. I have sailed RCCL 2 times and Celebrity 1 and NCL 1. We all compare cruise lines one to another, it's only natural. I tell people if you are on a strict budget and want to try cruising then Carnival maybe the proper choice. If you want a little more pampering then pay a little more for Celebrity. I belielve RCCL is an excellant middle of the road cruiseline. Yes I also believe you are in vacation, you make the vacation for what it is, The Capt. Of The Ship is in charge and people cruising should read the CONTRACT.

With this being said that guy is not gonna get anywhere with Carnival except for maybe a future discounted cruise and NO he wont be going to Hawaii.

I thought the video was one of the funniest I have seen in ages. I don't for one minute believe the cruiser ever expected a trip to Hawaii. He had some gripes and wanted Carnival to know about them and he did so with a great sense of humor. I wish more people had that sense of humor than seeing some of the nasty gripes/posts on these boards.

The author was trying to make a point and he did, and really I don't think the 20% off his next cruise will make one iota of difference.

Thanks for posting this, it was my laugh on the day.
