Is everything closed January 1st. and 2nd. 2017?? Carnival Liberty 12/31

Hi everyone.

I read that January 1 and 2 is a public holiday in the Bahamas and in addition they have a big parade downtown.

We are scheduled on the Liberty December 31 with stops in Nassau and Freeport on 1st. and 2nd.

Will all the stores be closed those two days? Should we plan another cruise date?

Will the Island be crowded due to the holidays and parades and will excursions be affected?
