Just off Paradise

Had a nice 5 day cruise on Paradise. My cabin was not in a good location--too far to walk to places--M191. The cabin doors don't slam on you but stay open until you close them, nice touch. Not nearly as much door slamming. Steward was efficient and did a nice job. Didn't go to any shows as I've been to them all before. Only 6 stools at the casino bar for smokers. Ridiculous. Place was packed with people standing. Room service was quick and served at proper temperature. Nice Diamond/Platinum party, plenty of drinks. Only 2 TV stations with movies, 2 with cartoons and the rest garbage. Forgot my collapsible cooler so getting ice was an issue. I coped. Food was not hot. Got an over easy egg cooked but the bacon served was cold this morning. Enjoyed relaxing and not doing anything!

We have sailed on the Paradise a lot recently before dry dock, but are sailing on her on May 3rd on the 4-day overnight Cuba cruise. Looking forward to the changes after dry dock. I was hoping there would be more places for smoking at the casino bar, but doesn't sound like it from what you said. I don't do the shows as I'm in the casino whenever it's open. We always do room service for breakfast and it's always been on time - wish they had hot items though like HAL does. I do room service lunch, too, and like the Reuben and spicy shrimp. We like to have a lot of ice and DH gives the room steward $5 on the first day and lets him know to keep the ice bucket always full. I understand that after dry dock all the cabins now have a min-fridge so we won't be bringing our soft sided cooler anymore. The 4-day cruises don't have the Platinum/Diamond parties - too bad because they are usually nice.

,

We have been on Paradise 3 other times and will be sailing again in December. Our oceanview stateroom will also be on the "Main" deck. Can you please tell me what upgrades they did to the regular rooms (bedding, carpet, closets, bathroom)? I know they added balconies and major room upgrades to some, but I am curious what we might see in our room. If there are upgrades, do you know if all the rooms got them? Thanks in advance.

There will be a double usb port outlet at the desk in all cabins. In cabins that have bedside tables with lamps, the lamp base will also have two usb ports. Cabins that have the wall bedside lights have a double usb port by the far bed. The drawers under the desk were sacrificed for the fridge.

  • 2 weeks later...

Didn't anybody notice that there were no drawers to put clothes in?? The drawesr in the desk were replaced with a mini fridge, which is fine(we didnt use it). But there were only 2 long wardrobe closets to hang things with about 10 hangers for all of our clothes. there were a couple of open shelves above and below the safe as you walk in the room on the left, but no drawer I can close my undies, bras bathing suits sox etc. so our clothes were just piled up on the bottom of the closet. The large empty space in the corner could have easily had a bureau there or a couple of chairs, but we were told by our room steward we already had a chair as he pointed to our stool under the desk!!!) Other than that the beds were super comfy and the new doors that dont slam shut were a big improvement.
