island284 Posted March 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2018 we are planning on snorkeling at Spice Beach and not using a ship excursion. Does anyone know for sure if we are required to buy a “marine tag” just for the few hours we will be there?
wishing4wind Posted March 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2018 Yes, you are required to buy a marine tag, but you can get them right there when you enter Spice beach. They're good for a year, so hold on to them in case you come back.
FlaParrotHead Posted April 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2018 Good for a calendar year. $25pp cash only. Funds go to the preservation of the island (land and sea). Sent from my iPad using Forums

I have never been asked to buy or seen any mention of marine tags. Usually the ships cruise news and Port information sheets make you aware of any taxes, local charges etc. you need to make while in Port, again, never seen marine tags mentioned. It would appear cruisers are except from the fee as long as they aren't diving.
