Floorplans for new Sky Princess

I wouldn't complain if the Sky Princess had a Planks specialty restaurant like on the Caribbean Princess.

Being from Texas, having a BBQ restaurant available makes for a "feel-right-at-home" experience. Putting it in the space where the Princess Live Studio is on the Royal and Regal would be a better use of the space in my opinion.

Planks? Was on the CB in March, something new?

I just received another teaser ad for the Sky. It will feature the CG, Sabatini's (new configuration), Gastro Pub, Slice (pizza) and other unnamed features. However no deck layout as yet.

It’s not the Gastro Pub like on the Crown but is the renovated Trident Grill with a new menu & renamed Salty Dog Grill like on the Caribbean.

I wish they’d release the deck plans before the Sky’s Fall 2019 cruises are available to elite level passengers on Wednesday. We immediately booked the Royal without any official deck plans which made it more difficult to tell our TA which cabin to book.

My guess is the cabins will be like on the Majestic but public spaces will be mostly like the Royal/Regal. And the changes made to the Caribbean such as modifying the grill & pizzeria will be made to the Sky along with renaming the Horizon Court as the World Fresh Marketplace which better describes the Royal/Regal buffets.

Like everyone else, lacking deck plans just speculating about the Sky’s design.

That was added during the late March/early April drydock. Also added was Steamers Seafood and both have a $12 cover charge. They replaced the aft buffet section named Cafe Caribe & are available for dinner.

FYI I think I just found them on Cruisemapper.com Click on deckplans and enter Sky Princess.

Hope this works for everyone.

Hope it has an indoor/outdoor Retreat Pool like the Majestic, and my dream would be to replace Princess Live with a nice lounge. To me the TV studio concept is misguided.

The deck plans available seem to show it almost like the Royal and Regal and there is no Hollywood Beach Club like the Majestic.

Yes Majestic had some aft and forward Premium Deluxe Balconies with bigger exposed balconies on Dolphin deck which are not showing here.

Hope it isn't like the Majestic. The Majestic has no Crooner's and no Club 6. This would mean no booking for us.

When I was on the Pacific Princess this past May, the future cruise guy told me the as yet unnamed Sky Princess would possibly have an Explorers in place of Princess Live. He didn’t say anything about Club 6 or Crooners. Guess we’ll have to wait for those darn deck plans.....:):):)

I think this is just a copy of the Regal's deck plans. You can kind of tell because of the Lido Deck venue names, Trident Grill, Prego Pizza and Horizon Ct.. On the Sky, Princess has mentioned these areas will be named Salty Dog, Slice and World Fresh Marketplace.

While I've never had it I would be totally amazed if it bears any resemblance at all to what you would call Texas chili. On our recent cruise on Emerald the PES lounge had "authentic Mexican salsa" a couple of times. Wow. Apparently nobody on the staff has ever actually had Mexican salsa. It was pathetic. Really, really, really pathetic. It was pretty much diced tomatoes with a hint of cilantro.

I agree. Also what they called taco meat on the Royal Princess lunch buffet had absolutely no resemblance to any taco I have ever tried. It was just nasty tasting and the texture was nothing like ground beef. I have suggested on the post cruise survey that Princess would benefit if they would hire people from Taco Bell and put them in charge of preparing all Mexican food.

Bob...the limited information about the Sky on the Princess website shows there’ll be a Princess Live.

Hi Frank, I saw that. I just wanted to mention what I was told. We all know too well that info on a new ship can vary depending on who you hear it from. The future cruise guy on the Pacific could be 100% wrong or the information could have changed. I wonder if the’ll have a La Mer or go back to Crooners. My vote would be for the later.

Are you ant the wife thinking of Booking?.....:):):)

As both of us know, not everything we’re told is accurate. ;)

Good friends sailed the Majestic & said the La Mer location was awful & did not dine there. It’s one thing to have passengers walking through a bar but is terrible for dining particularly at what’s promoted as a paid more upscale dining experience. Since La Mer is not being promoted on the Sky then my guess is they realize that Crooners generates more income than the restaurant.

We’re not thinking of booking...we are booking on Wednesday morning when elites can make reservations. :D Using the fare chart with the beginning prices we’ve given our cabin preferences to our TA for 28 days. Then will watch for a better net price & hope for another 3 for Free in September which we’ve used for all of our recent cruises.

Cool deal sir. If everything works out we’d enjoy sailing with you again. I know I haven’t been to keen on Royal Class ships, but what the heck I’m sure we’ll have a great cruise. By then I will (hopefully) finally be retired.....:):):)

Ready to book. I'm expecting the cabin selection / layout to be the same as the Regal but perhaps labeled as different classifications. With this thought in mind I asked my TA to grab my selected cabin with a few backups tomorrow when reservations begin. Going for the inaugural Athens to Barcelona. Although I have a fair number of Princess cruises under my belt, only one inaugural cruise...the Sun Princess. Must admit the Royal Princess did not wow me over, I'll sail the Sky since it will be in the Med.

So tomorrow, the 13th....hurry up!

PS...hey Princess....please have shrimp cocktail on the menu at the Ocean seafood bar....paleeeze

The representation on the website shows the Sky cabin layout like the Majestic with Emerald deck minis and extended balcony deluxe balcony cabins above on Dolphin deck. We should know for sure when booking for elites start tomorrow.

Brian...where did you find a “representation” of the Sky’s cabin layout on their website?

I’m guessing the cabins will be like the Majestic and the public areas like the Royal/Regal. That’s the basis I’ve used to give my cabin choices to my TA for 0800 tomorrow morning.

My T/A has our particulars as well. Will be waiting anxiously for her call as to what cabin she snagged for us. I also am wondering when CC will create s "Sky Princess" sub folder on the Princess roll call forums....:):):)

Hey Frank! :D Chris and I are going to book the 21 day TA on the Sky later today (once its all open). We had thought of booking the 28 day - and its still not 100% ruled out - but as I get closer to retirement, I am trying to "save" 1 - 2 weeks of vacation time over the next 2 years in order to retire a month earlier.

Let's plan on getting together!!!!

Jackie...that would be great to see both of you again & if they're still valid I have your email addresses (Hotmail/Gmail) to communicate with you. :D

Soon the cruises should be available to book & I'm waiting for a call from my TA to confirm our reservations for the 7 & 21 day cruises which we calculate would result in the best net price for us.

Looking forward to a cruise reunion...I highly recommend retirement! :D

The fare chart showed an OS category & on the Princess website they show that's apparently true on the Sky:

Oceanview

  • Approx. 146 to 206 sq. ft.
  • Standard amenities include a hair dryer, refrigerator, TV, closet and bathroom with shower
  • A spacious picture window for memorable views

Interesting re the OV cabins! It would be MUCH easier if we could have seen the deck plans before booking!

Princess inventory control has made cabins we wanted to book unavailable on the 7 day cruise (11/3/19) but were available on the 21 day or the 28 day. In a conference call with my TA & Princess agent, their agent apologized for this situation which was out of her control. So much for their new Elite level perk they're touting because inventory control prevents booking certain blocks of cabins. :(

Now that I'm booked, I can view deck plans and here are some of the public area changes I've noticed from the Royal/Regal.

  • Deck 6: Art Gallery area is now an expanded Shops of Princess area
  • Deck 6: Casino staircase to deck 7 removed
  • Deck 6: CC & Future Cruise spaces replace Alfredo's
  • Deck 7: Crooners replaced by the French Bistro (La Mer) like on the Majestic
  • Deck 7: Alfredo's Pizzeria moved from deck 6 replacing shops/CC/Future Cruise areas
  • Deck 7: Wheelhouse Bar renamed Crown Grill Bar
  • Deck 7: Fine Arts Gallery moved from deck 6 adjacent to a smaller Photo & Video Gallery on deck 7
  • Deck 16: Horizon Court/Bistro renamed World Fresh Market Place
  • Deck 16: Not labeled yet but based on Princess website, Prego Pizzeria & Trident Grill replaced by Slice & Salty Dog Grill
  • Deck 16: shows 2 larger pools instead of the Fountain Pool & smaller Plunge Pool

I'm aware that first versions of other new ships had errors in deck plans, however this is based on what's currently displayed. I haven't compared cabins but they appear to be similar to the Majestic with some Emerald deck aft larger minisuite cabins.

Skimming through the deck plans, I didn't see any OS type of cabins despite if being displayed on their fare chart & cabin descriptions for the Sky. On the fare chart they are less than $100 less than a balcony cabin so don't know which to believe...deck plans or their website description & fare chart.

They also add a Wake view pool on Lido Deck and 1 more deck than the Royal/Regal/Majestic; on that deck there are 2 HUGE! Suites, No more Crooners
