We were a group of 5 couples. We did this same cruise last year had such a great time, signed on to do it again this year. The Regal is my favorite Princess ship, this was my DH & my 3rd time on the Regal.

We had a table for 10 in the traditional dining room at 8:00 pm. I thought the food was very good to excellent. Our wait staff was good but it did take almost 2 hrs most nights to get through dinner. It was hard to make the shows each night. Most nights we made it just as the lights were starting to go down. Our group went to the Crown Grill one night. Five of our group did the Winemakers Dinner one night, it is excellent, I would highly recommend it if you enjoy drinking wine. The Lido food was very good, not hard to find seats. We really enjoy the outside area on the back of the ship. The Bar/Lounge area there is great. Also spent a good amount of time in Crooners Bar. There is a great bar server there we met his name is Gusti. We went very day to happy hour from 3-4 bogo for a $1, and every night before dinner. Gusti took great care of our group.

Out of 36 cruises this was the first time I have gotten any kind of illness on a cruise. Myself and 2 of my cruise mates came down with the flu. We went to the medical center was tested for the flu which was positive and given Tamiflu. We were confined to our cabins for 48 hrs. We had to have our temperature taken 3 times with no fever before we could leave our cabins. They told us they were seeing a good many flu cases on this cruise. Yes we all had the flu shot. The ships Dr said the flu shot was only 10% effective this year. Our spouses also took Tamiflu. I was very impressed by the medical staff on the Regal. This happened about half way into the cruise. After our 2 days we had the last 3 days to enjoy the rest of our cruise. I missed Grenada & Bonaire. I was looking forward to Grenada as I had not been there.

For those interested in the conditions in St Thomas. It is still pretty bad in my HMO. We walked from the ship to down town. There is a little bar we like The Beer Garden. We wanted to check to see how they made it. Luckily they did not have to much damage but had only gotten power back 2 days before we got there. Most of the stores were open. We took a taxi back to the ship. Our taxi driver said he still did not have power at his home. He told us the only beach he would swim at would be Megans Bay. He said there is a lot of debris in the water. It will be a long time before St Thomas is back normal.

We thought the entertainment on ship was good. We only saw 3 shows would have seen more but the flu got me. They also showed the Rose Bowl on the MUTS screen which we enjoyed as we are from GA. They also showed Falcons game in the Vista lounge. My DH saw it but I was confined to the cabin they also showed these games on the TV.

My cabin steward took great care of me since I was sick. They did send someone different to clean my room for the 2 days I was confined. I found out you can order room service from the MDR if you are confined to your cabin due to illness. Also you can get free laundry while you are sick. It didn't matter since we are elite and get laundry free anyway. This cruise I spent more time in my cabin that on any other cruise but I watched a lot of movies I had missed this pass year. Even with the flu we managed to enjoy our cruise. If anyone has questions I will try to answer.

It is encouraging to see that you made the most out of the voyage despite getting hit with the crud. So often it ruins the entire cruise for a few. I'm curious, did you have a balcony? You hear from guests all the time that they don't mind an inside cabin since they are never in it anyway. But then comes the quarantine. Ouch.

How soon/late did you get a confirmed table for 10 at TD?

We booked the cruise early in March 2017 so requested the table then had it from the beginning.

Nice review, I’m sorry you got the flu. But sounds like you were well taken care of and that the Regal has such great TVs!

We always book a balcony haven't had a inside in years. HD said we could not stand to be confined in an inside room. It would have be rough to not be able to at least see the ocean. That really made it bearable.

One thing I forgot to talk about the *****. None of our group had it. It is only in a few cabins. It is by muster station. We did talk to some of the people who were in the cabins that had the *****. Most were not pleased with it. One family of 3 only one of them could open the door to their cabin with their *****. One man told me he had turned his in the second day, because it was a pain in the butt. Everyone with the ***** was also given a cruise card because most of the time it did not work. It did not work in the shops or bars. Sometimes it worked in the casino, but for the most part it is not up and running like they had hoped it would be. The good thing is the internet is great very fast. If you are elite you will get free internet for the entire cruise. This was a nice perk while I was confined to the cabin. Also nice not having to sign in & out. We did not book the cruise because of the ***** so we could have cared less. We really cruise to get away from all that but I know some can't live with out it. I talked to the captain's circle person she told me not to expect to see it on other ships anytime soon. The roll out was supposed to be on 3 ships this year. They have pushed this back. I am not sure they are even saying when it will be ship wide on the Regal yet. I personally wish they would upgrade the TV on all the ships first. I would enjoy that more than the *****. Just my MHO

Thanks for doing this and sorry you had a flu experience. We are so loyal to Princess and to the Royal Class ships that it really bothers us that the ***** process is not going well. We were on the two-day Nassau run where it was rolled out and there was a lot of hype and very exciting prospects revealed that would be incorporated in this RFID technique. Unfortunately, this is not getting off to a good start.

We booked this ship for a voyage at the end of February hoping to be part of the experience, but no.....it won't happen. However, we do have a 14-day voyage booked on her over New Year's and I'm sure it will be ready then because they are showing the European voyages this summer as ***** Experience and if there is a problem then there will be a lot of resumes' being filled out.

Where were the rooms located that had *****? Just curious....we’re doing a 25 day TA in mid April. Wonder if ***** will be any better by then. Are they still adding rooms or have they given up on it??

The people I spoke with that had the ***** were in Muster station A. I also heard they were all located at the front of the ship not sure which decks they were on. If you call Princess they might be able to tell you which cabins are the ones with them. From things we heard from some of the staff they did not believe the ***** would be ship wide for a while. It seems this technology is a lot harder to get up and running on a moving ship than they thought it would be.
