For free, or do I need to buy a whole new lanyard? We have really nice Cruise Critic lanyards that have a detachable section so we can remove the card to use in the door or give the bartender when you get a drink without having to remove the whole lanyard (or removing the card from the holder, if using that).

The casino or guest services can do it.

Do they clip onto your existing lanyard or do they have a lanyard attached?

If having your card hanging is a must, you could try going to Office Depot for a plastic badge holder and attach it to your CC lanyard. Or as mentioned above, go to the Logo Shop and buy a new lanyard, that way you will have 2 :)

Personally, my wife and I love wearing our CC lanyards on cruises and it's much easier than having to find our cards in a pocket or elsewhere.

Because some people apparently think that lanyards are tacky and it ruins their cruise experience when they see someone wearing one.

O dear me ...I obviously don't cruise with the "right attitude" then ....For me cruising is about having fun and enjoying the experience, not about trying to pretend that I am something I am not or try impress anyone.....Having a Lanyard means I don't have to worry about misplacing my card and frankly I dont have a lot of clothes that has "pockets" and I DEF don't walk around with a handbag or wallet on board the ship ...having said that I LOVE dressing up for "Elegant" nights and have on more than one cruise gone full formal just because I can ;p so its not like I have a problem with keeping up standards.

I've been switching to those Vera Bradley ones for the RFID cards where you don't have to take them out and can't punch a hole. On formal nights, I dress up and have my husband carry my card for me in his tux.

I find it amazing that no one has thought to say that the new ship has the new wrist band technology and there is no need of a card or lanyard, the exception being disembarking and embarking at a port of call. And the last ting you want is a cruise card on a lanyard screaming "cruising tourist; please rob me."

I don't know how much a wrist band costs , they were free in the Yacht Club, but I would take a bet that there are close in price to a lanyard.

I believe they will be reusable.

I find it amazing that no one has thought to say that the new ship has the new wrist band technology and there is no need of a card or lanyard, the exception being disembarking and embarking at a port of call. And the last ting you want is a cruise card on a lanyard screaming "cruising tourist; please rob me."

You'd have to be an idiot to wear them once you are off the ship (we put ours in my wife's pocketbook or a travel bag I carry with stuff when we leave the ship). That said, there are plenty of other ways people can tell that you are a tourist from a ship. How about the sticker everyone who books a cruise line excursion has to wear? Or your cruise line logoed tote bag.

Agee MisterBill...We also always put our cruise cards in what ever bag we are taking off for the day once we leave the ship, and coming from Australia, where MSC dont cruise from, we have NO idea if we will ever sail with them again, so to buy a bracelet for it "reusable value" would more likely be worthless for us.

I use a lanyard and the last thing I would do is wear it in port. I don’t need it in port and I would have a purse in port. I don’t use a purse on the ship.

I don't stick the excursion stickers in a visible place but on a piece of card that goes in my shirt breast pocket, so I can produce it if the escort asks to see it.

I put my cruise card in the other breast pocket, which always have button down flaps

Because I keep my cruise cards in a book for a memory of the 28 wonderful cruises I have taken. I do not want it defaced. (Ignore the ridiculous answer right after you asked this question.) If you want to punch yours and wear it like a school kid, fine. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Just leave mine alone.

Funny, I didn’t think that response was ridiculous at all. I don’t understand the snobbery against lanyards and lanyard wearers. And I consider the school kid comment to be “I’m so much better than you are” snobbery.

I can’t speak for anyone else who wears their card on a lanyard, but “fun” has nothing to do with it.

I do it because it’s very convenient. I don’t generally have pockets in my clothing, and if I do they are small. I wouldn’t want to chance it falling out. And I’m not carrying a purse around on the ship when all I need is the card.

I prefer to not use the ones with the pouch because I don’t want to have to dig it out all the time. My lanyard has a detachable part at the end. One snap and it’s free.

I also save all of my cards and don’t consider a small hole a defacement.

100% Agree with all you said Kath...Its def far more convenient and safe for me and frankly I cruise for the fun of it and DEF not for the "status" or to impress anyone else, so having my holiday as uncomplicated and relaxed is my first priority ....And yes I too have every one of my cards, some on their Lanyards that were ship specific which adds to the memories

Really? Now criticizing people for NOT wearing lanyards? That was the snobbery I read in the referenced post.

Like I said, to each his own. I prefer not. Milady likes her lanyard, which is why I would NEVER say anything against them. But she uses a pouch, and not a hole in the card. Nothing wrong with them, just don't FORCE me to use one. I won't. THAT was the gist of my original post.

(And, yes, I have seen people showing off their advanced status cards with lanyards. I prefer to treat everyone equally. That's why my black cards - or whatever level depending on the cruise line - stay in my pocket. And every item of clothing I wear on a ship has pockets. YMMV)
