Jost Van Dyke & Soggy Dollar Bar

Wow what fun! We took a fast pontoon boat over to Jost with bvi360.

Enjoyed some good food and painkillers and relaxed on the beach with friends.

It is absolutely the most beautiful beach!

Sounds wonderful! We are booked with BVI360 for our March cruise. Glad to hear you had a great time and the beach is beautiful. This will be our first time to JVD and can't wait!

We were on the same trip. Our second time to JVD/Soggy Dollar. Love that place/beach. Sam Henry with BVI360 is great. The trip from Tortola to JVD is a blast. Sit in the front of the boat for an exciting ride (you will get wet). BVI360 only accepts cash, but CCs can be used on the beach. Pack lightly, you may have to swim/wade to the beach; hence, soggy dollar bar. Have fun!

Does BVI360 take you strictly to JVD, or is there also snorkeling involved? Is the Soggy Dollar bar kid-friendly? Does it have any type of activities or is it pretty much just a beach bar? Thank you for the info!

Have not taked bvi360 but they should make a snorkel stop on the way.

The Soggy$ and other bars there are not really places for kids but you'll be fine if you're there earlier and it isn't too crowded. Seddy (at Seddy's One Love) does card tricks, and there's a ring toss at the S$B. These are beach bars so there will be people drinking and have a good time of course so just use your discretion and go where you need to.

Were did you meet him for this tour? and approx what time does he leave?

Does he serve drinks on the boat?

Does the beach have restrooms and changing facilities?

We just used the restrooms at the bars (Soggy $ for one).

We never changed our swim clothes, just our frame of mind! :p

after much debate we are choosing to do the charter with bvi360 to JVD...glad to hear a recent review! anyone else on the 3/31/12 Valor doing this day trip? we would like to know that there are going to be enough people, also wondering if there will be other kids (DD is 9 yrs old).....

what ship were you on and how long were you in port? just wondering how much time you had to play........we only have half a day, ship leaves at 3:30 :(

I am worried that there wont be enough time in port, with the ship leaving at 3ish to do the tour with BVI360....

We were in port from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, so we had an entire day in port. We stayed on JVD from 11:00-3:15. Your time in port is limited, so you may want to stay in Tortola.

You say you have 1/2 day, how long is that?

If you're in Tortola at least 6 hrs you have time to experience the best beach, Smuggler's Cove. There are several threads here on Smuggler's. If you prefer a busy beach full of other cruisers try Cane Garden Bay. For a "resort" day pass and something in between the Long Bay Resort has a nice beach. Brewer's Bay is a little closer and also nice.

Smuggler's and Long Bay are the beaches you see on post cards and pictured in calendars. We hit Jost and VG while staying on Tortola so we can spend more time there. White Bay is pretty and a great party spot but we prefer to relax at Smuggler's with Patricia's wonderful grill.
