Liberty....to party hearty or not

Day 2. We woke to a foggy morning coming into port. The closer we got the clearer it got. Loved sitting on the balcony watching familiar sites come into view. We had no plans for the day so we took our time and went to MDR for breakfast. It was relaxing, the food was good though not great, coffee and juice were always full. We had great table mates as well.

We walked into Nassau with 2 things on the agenda.....compare vodka and tequila prices with home and the ship and buy gifts for my dgds. Found what I wanted for girls in first shop but way to expensive. The liqour is not worth buying in town. Buy it on the ship. I swore I would not go to the straw market but ended up buying the gifts for the girls there. Cute dresses that cost half what they were in the first shop. Exact same thing.

Our original plan was to go to Arawak to the fish fry for lunch but it was so hot we decided to go back to the ship.

So...lunch at the buffet...Blue Iguana burrito was delicious. DH had Mongolian wok and Guys burger.

Back to cabin for a nap. I woke up and took my Kindle to Serenity It was very quiet but people were smoking so I went back to Riviera and had a drink and soon we were pulling away out to sea.

The water during the whole trip was like glass.... smoothest cruise I've ever been on.

To the ladies reading this....I went back to the cabin drink in hand and went out on the balcony...I came back in to shower. Ok time to do my hair. As an aside, I had packed my travel dryer and took it out the last minute. Do yourself a favor....take yours. The one on this ship feels hot but takes forever and Fry's your ends. It was so bad my flat

iron couldn't fix it. The next day I let my hair air dry most of the way and finished off with the dryer. Still not perfect but better.

Ok now that I got that out of my hair....this is elegant night. We no longer dress up but we don't do raggedy either. There were some people on gowns and tuxes and some in shorts and t-shirts. No tanks though. One guy looked really sharp in denim shorts, a credit neck shirt and a sports jacket, loafers no socks. Guys you can be comfortable and still make the effort. We got to the dining room and the table next to the window was actually a table next to the railing looking down on the downstairs part of the room. It was a two top...we had asked for a bigger table. The dining room was 1/2 empty and it took 10 minutes for them to find another table downstairs in the back by the kitchen. Really? The dining room management is not the most accomadating as previously mentioned. The wait staff was great however. Prime rib was okay but really thin. Mushroom pasta yum. Tonight the waiters danced to some rock music and swirled there napkins.

By now with 8:15 dinner it was casino time. First a trip to the Alchemy bar. Even if you don't drink you need to go and watch those girls in action. They are amazing bartenders. The plan had been to see the other comedian but we missed him. After casino time we went up to Pizza Pirate and then off too bed. Day 3 continued later

Day 3 and disembarking morning.

Day 3 hanging out by the Riviera pool most of the day, dinner in the MDR. DH loved his veal parm. Wait staff did the baked Alaska dance. Then more live music party in the flower lounge. Casino pack.

This is huge....don't walk your bags off the ship put them out. Hardly anyone puts them out. It's easier to get off the ship without them. Once off the ship they are really easy to find. Get a porter because the porter customs line is non existent and he walked us to our car. It took us 9 minutes from the time we were off the ship to be on the road home. I guarantee the people who exited with their bags were still on the customs line.

All in all it was a great weekend. I'm ready to do it again

Thanks for the review. Im heading out on a 3 day over Thanksgiving. I see that you had elegant night on the 2nd night of the three day cruise? I am wondering if it will be the same or if they will change it for Thanksgiving night.

Really liked your review and this is the best statement ever:

Guys you can be comfortable and still make the effort.

Goes for the women too. I think that is my issue. You don't have to look like you're mowing the yard but yes you don't have to do a tux to be "elegant"!

DO you happen to have pictures of the fun times or the menu?? I Have done the Liberty 3 night before but was wondering if the brisket is still night 1. LOL I know 2 weeks from tomorrow I will be onboard. Thanks for the review

This. I was amazed how cheaply I could stock up on vodka. If only the ship's shop had whipped cream flavored vodka, my favorite.

I like to travel light, but I have to agree with you on how crappy the dryers are on the ship!

Reviews of 3-day cruises aren't that common, so I really appreciate that you are taking the time to share your experience. It never occurred to me that we could get stuck with a late seating booking last minute. I think, if we had late seating and couldn't get it changed, we just wouldn't eat in the main dining room which would be a shame but still better than eating at home. ;)

Thanks for the review. We are doing a B2B2B on the Liberty in February next year (4day, 3day, 4day). :)

This will take us to 45 cruises on Carnival. Aiming to get to 50 in 2020 to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. :D

Can you handle 3 muster drills in 11 days, especially on a Conquest ship? :) I love Conquest ships, but don’t like standing outside for the muster drill.

Thanl you...and yes I agree about the women as well....a shift dress and sandals are as comfortable as a tee shirt and cutoffs and flip flops and sure dress up the place

Even if you can't get early for MDR do go to Diamonds. It was well worth the splurge if it's in your budget

Next stop Golden Olympia dining room. Finding this place was not easy. First we went to the Silver, were told to go to Golden and then had to find the right desk. We were booked for late seating which would prevent us from seeing any shows. She told us no and what a wonderful table we had pointing to the windows. Little did we know that since so many people never come to the dining room it would not have mattered. Needless to say that did put a dent in the weekends enjoyment as I love the shows and it makes a ery late start to your evening

I am the poster who was concerned about booking at the last minute and being assigned to late dining. We boarded on Thursday and went to the dining room at the specified time to try to get changed to early or anytime dining. I also dealt with the female assistant. She put our cabin number on a list and told us to go to the Silver at 6:40 p.m. We would then be assigned to a table that had a no-show. She finished up the conversation by shaking her head sadly and saying, “It is such a shame, you had such a lovely table right over there!”

Sorry that was so long. I will try to be briefer.

Our next stop was the customer service desk. Again FTTF was worth the no wait. I converted a couple of carnival gift cards to obc.

It is now about 2:45. We go back to unpack before muster and No Luggage. Part of the reason we got FTTF was to get unpacked early and be ready to go at sailaway. By 3:15 still no luggage. I asked the Steward and he told me to go to customer service. Again thanks for FTTF. I waited in line for a few minutes and was asked for a specific identification of our bags and the best part my FTTF charge was credited to my obc account for the inconvenice. When I finally got back to the cabin the bags were there but dh was having a melt down over the bags and muster was underway. The security guy came to push us to our muster station.......

I can honestly say that this was the worst, most unorganized muster drill I have ever been too. First we were almost all the way aft and our station was almost all the way forward....huh and then... This is Central Florida in August in late afternoon. The heat index was over 100 degrees. People were walking all around, the checkers were missing people, the concrete factory across the port was LOUD and you couldn't hear the announcements and the safety staff was worthless. We were there for 40 minutes. Some people from further down just left. It would have been better to just instruct everyone to watch it on TV...yeah I know...It's the law....but. Carnival you need to train your people better. This could have been a disaster.

Thank you for the review!

Used to love Carnival, but haven't sailed them since 2015.

Mainly because food and "live" entertainment had declined for us.

Must say, even when I was sailing Carnival regularly, other cruise lines we sailed throughout that time held muster indoors and it lasted a significantly shorter duration. We once had a Carnival Muster last 45 minutes outside in Miami heat as the [cruise director] repeatedly pleaded for guests to report to muster stations!

I know Muster is a small portion of a cruise vacation, but after leaving Carnival the last few years, we've fully appreciated the INDOOR muster stations/drills on ALL other lines we've sailed...and they get all the pertinent info in with no problems.

I'm not much for the tropical heat anymore [in my older age] and prefer indoor musters these days!!

For nbr 2 and 3, we will have a few drinks to get us through. :D:D

You can get them for the first one too!

We usually have had at least three drinks each (probably more, now that I think about it), with a fourth in our hand, as the muster drill started on Liberty.
