anyone ever downgraded room with free land casino offer

I know there are standard prices to upgrade your cabin type when using a land based free cruise, but has anyone ever downgraded their cabin? Specifically, I'm looking to downgrade from an inside cabin to a studio.

Why. Take the bigger room as a solo.

I have traveled Solo many time. CAS won't downgrade. But the most important part is the solo gatherings. These are held nightly and you can attend them. I am traveling Solo my next cruise also with CAS and not going in a studio.

I'm not sure that NCL would agree that moving from an inside room to a Studio is a downgrade.

Every time I've looked at pricing and price drops, Studios are more expensive. It seems that studios have sold out long before inside cabins.

And while one can argue that the larger sq. ft. of an inside room vs. a studio should mean it's an upgrade, I'd say passenger DEMAND influences what is really the upgrade.

Now, if they actually do consider it an upgrade, then the question would be how much would the upgrade cost. It's $180 ($90/PP) to go from inside to ocean view. Since I would definitely think a studio would be a lower category than oceanview, the upgrade price should be lower also.

I once had to take an inside cabin on a CAS comped cruise because there were no more oceanviews available for CAS bookings on the cruise I wanted. My offer for that cruise was an oceanview but they had no problem letting me take the inside instead. The only thing you can do is call and ask.

A studio is still an inside room just a different category so possibly as slight fee if any at all.

According to the Cruise Deck Plans website, on the Escape there are 82 Studios and 407 Interior cabins.

I really do believe that for most cruises, there is more demand than there are Studios: rarely -- if ever-- does NCL have to drop the price of a Studio.

Several times I've seen last minute fares for a SINGLE traveler (no supplement) in a balcony to be $649 for a week cruise while Studio prices were $1,179.

I wouldn't be surprised if NCL found it more cost effective to exclude Studios from CAS inventory.

(Yes, awhile back there was some thread about solo CAS guests only offered Studio, as some policy change that I think just turned out to be a misunderstanding and rumor.)

I've sailed in studios twice and the lounge isn't the hotbed one might think. I've only seen more than a handful in there when I had planned to meet everyone there. Often I've gone in and it was empty!

so, I finally go thru to a CAS rep (the hold times are so long these days). They do allow you to pick a cabin that is a lower category than your certificate with the exception of studios. He said CAS actually don't book studios at all.
