What's up with Valpo?

We are taking an Antarctic sail-by on the HAL Zaandam at Christmas and had no trouble getting a hotel in Valparaiso. But for April, the situation is different, when we will take the Norwegian Sun from Valpo to San Francisco. Mostly sold out. Nearly a year in advance?

I guess that must be peak vacation time, or something. Can anyone explain?

What dates? Easter? Local Festival? Elections?

When hotels show mostly "sold out" that far in advance, it could be that it's too early to book them.

I would agree with pp- maybe they arent available yet?

The previous message about the hotel not being available April 23-25 no longer applies. When I saw that two weeks ago, I immediately booked a room for a forthcoming cruise, canceling a previous booking.

We once did a picturesque hilly hotel in Santa Teresa in Rio. Must say that the idea was great, but all the steps to get there and then inside drove us nuts.

We will be at Ibis Dec. 18 for another cruise. . .
