So no more smoking near any pools? Tradewinds Bar is not near a pool? Never have sailed Princess but I see that some suites are all alone AFT so I would expect some folks smoke on their balconies there since the smoke would only blow backwards??and you have no close neighbors except forward???never have seen a ship with only two aft suites...thanks

In this thread -- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1352093 -- we've asked you to limit smoking discussion to the most recent thread on the subject.

The purpose of this new "sticky" thread is to be the thread for discussion about smoking on Princess and your experiences with the new policy onboard the ships. This is in lieu of having multiple simultaneous threads about various aspects of the policy, and this is where we will combine posts and new threads with cruise-related questions and discussion about Princess's smoking policy.
Thank you to all for participating in our community!
The above is why people continue to post smoking questions on this thread. It's what we were TOLD to do.

Why wait so long, just make all your ships smoke free. You know that Princess is a minority in having smoking on board their ships. Wake up and smell the roses not smoke.

First of all, Princess is not in a minority. It would be nice if you had your facts straight.

Second, please share with us which cruise ship is completely non-smoking? That's right... None! If you don't like it, you have two choices... Land based vacations as I seriously doubt that cruise lines are going to go smoke free soon or buy or rent a yacht.

However, there are some cruise !Ines where smoking is even more limited than Princess. Regent or Oceania. If you can afford them, happy cruising!

Celebrity only allows smoking in some designated outdoor smoking areas.

Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor.

This is my first cruise and it's a bit stressful! Just trying to figure out where I can smoke a cigarette on a BOAT! Does not seem to be worth the hassle. Any hotel in the WORLD allows you smoke outside or on a balcony. Maybe it's just TOO MANY PEOPLE that are crammed into one place that is making this a big deal.

I intentionally did not get a balcony cabin but did choose one near the aft near a small, intimate pool. I'll smoke in a corner by the small pool off the side of the boat in the morning while I'm having my coffee. If no one is around what are they going to do about it? I'm sure the non-smokers will chime in and rat me out ...we'll see. It's my cruise too!

I'm a smoker too, and wouldn't dream of smoking in an area where it is not allowed, so AndWe, I hope you do get called out for your comment.

The easiest way to know where you can smoke on a SHIP is to go to the Passenger Desk and ask them to mark on your ships map where the smoking areas actually are, as they change from ship to ship.

Also if you use an electronic cigarette you can smoke those in your cabin.

+1

Facts are important, even when it comes to smoking

I looked back through the thread, but couldn't find which ship you'll be on. I've been on a hand-full of Princess ships & I can pretty much tell you where the smoking areas are on all the ones I've sailed!! Will be happy to help if I've been on the same ship.

All Princess ships offer both indoor and outdoor smoking areas. Most ships have an outdoor area on the Sun Deck with bar service. Often there is an area on the Promenade Deck as well. Some casinos offer limited smoking. All smoking areas are all well marked and have safe ashtrays.

I would not recommend smoking in an unauthorized area as Princess considers that to be a safety issue for which the passenger contract provides for fines and even debarkation at the next port. So far, there are no reports of anyone being made to walk the plank.

Any insight on what to avoid would be appreciated.
For such a big ship, I don't understand why PEOPLE treat "smokers" as "Leopards" they know where to go (Not rocket science to ask where to go) So, in answer of your question it is so simple.... just go and ask where the smoking area's are and DON'T GO THERE!

There will be a smoking area on the sun deck aft of the pool area - near the bar. Also, there will likely be a smoking area on the promenade deck. Both are small and easily avoided. Smoking in the Casino on Princess varies - it may be allowed some nights at some of the slot machines. Smoking is limited to active players but this is not well enforced. Bottom line, you may encounter unpleasant and hazardous levels of smoke in the casino at some times.

I smoke and cruise. Next cruise in Jan 2018 on Ruby Princess. So as not to offend the non smoker where is smoking allowed on the outside decks. I know the casino which can be pretty smoky for me.

Usually one spot on an upper deck and a small standing only spot aft on the Promenade Deck (7). Both outdoors.

But things change so best to check when you are on board.

On Ruby there's a small with some tables & chairs ... mostly covered outdoor smoking area on Deck 16 forward... port side ... next to the bar up there...but you can not smoke at the bar.
