Saw a post on MSC Cruises USA Facebook page about the evening shows on Seaside.

Madame Butterfly

The Wizard

DeJaVu

Peter Punk

My Life in Music

Latin Planet

Timeless

Does anyone know if this is accurate?? If so, I'm canceling my trip and booking with another cruise line. I have an 11 year old and she loves the night shows at the various resorts we have stayed at...but these sound nothing like a show she'd enjoy.

That is the information I was given and if these shows are similar to the Divina shows I'll be very happy. However I heard that there will not be a Michael Jackson show which was one of my favorites. If you check my website in my signature I have a link to full descriptions of all the shows that are planned. Follow the link to my Seaside cruise and click on Entertainment. Bob

I think it sounds like a great variety of shows for all ages and preferences. I'm sure my 11 and 15 year olds will enjoy several of them - Peter Punk, Wizard, Timeless, Latin Planet, and Deja Vu. What better way to expose them to different genres of theater than in 45 minute shows performed by great singers and dancers? I've seen the same shows on the Divina twice...as recently as August. I would be more than disappointed if they recycled the same shows for Seaside. I am really looking forward to the entertainment!

If a bunch of 45 minute shows ruins your vacation, that's pretty sad. Personally I don't care one iota for the shows as I will be enjoying my flexible dining, all inclusive drinks and my aft suite or my friends' grand suite. Oh yeah and the ports of call, various bars, and casino.

Very well said, P! For regular MSC cruisers, it can become a bit of a pain to see the same shows highlighting in the theatres time after time. Both Seaside and Meraviglia have given MSC and their passengers a chance to have something different to the usual fare.

Those who want to see the same shows, sail on Divina if they matter so much. I find it hard to believe that the shows onboard would make or break someone's enjoyment of a cruise. If that were the case, they should have ruined my time onboard on many occasions due to the same shows being constantly on.

Oh my. I have just read the descriptions on Bob's website and I am in heaven. I love them.

I hope they are still the shows when I board.

The only thing that could make it better for me is if they put Cirque on the ship!

What shows are on doesn't change my cruise. I would be happy even if the had Capt. Kangaroo. The only show I'd want to see again would be Michael Jackson. Of course, the person would have to be as good as the person on the Divina to make it believable. I'me looking forward to the seaside experience, and the YC.

Just my 2 cents. If you have never seen the shows on MSC they are really filled with dancing, music and acrobats...the story is secondary. My kids on Divina (while younger than 11) really liked them. Another thing they did on Divina which they may do on the Seaside is that my kids went to the shows with the kids club. Earlier in the day they did activities related to the theme of the show and at night they all went down together to watch it with their "friends". (and they had better seats than I did most nights.) . My point I guess is while I don't know the tastes of your child, dont short change the experience...she may love it.

Thank you, Bea :-)

I agree with most of what has been said on here...don't let the shows make or break a cruise for you and at least give them a chance. If I were to take my family to a Broadway show, we'd spend well over $1,000 and not have visited a single island, or had a single frosty drink on deck of a beautiful ship, or eaten 4 meals in a day! Lol. The shows are a definite bonus and I'll be happy to see at least a couple on our Seaside cruise.

Thank you for the info. While the shows won't make or break our cruise, I'm weighing my options to either stay with Seaside or switch to NCL Epic. Evening entertainment for an 11 year old is only one factor. I want to know what the ship has to offer an 11 year old in the evenings. (really, how many times can you go bowling??)

Does NCL offer a lot of evening entertainment for kids?

Here's a bit more info on Seaside...my 11 year old can't wait!

I much prefer comedy shows to musical entertainment, so I wasn't anticipating being wowed by the MSC shows (although I was looking forward to Michael Jackson... darn it...). But isn't there any other nighttime entertainment? Surely if you don't want to see the shows, there are better things to do!

I thought I read that Seaside would have a comedy club?

NCL entertainment varies quite a bit from ship to ship, night to night. The older ships mix it up usually with comedian, juggler/acrobats, musicals. The new ships have the same but more things like Rock of Ages, MDQ, and some pay shows.

NCL entertainment is pretty good overall. I wasn't overly impressed with MSC entertainment, it was just o.k. to us. That said, MSC had the same people doing the shows each night for the most part so that at least saves them some money and they work very hard.

Thanks Dexx. For us, we're sticking with MSC for the foreseeable future. I was just curious since the OP thinks there won't be anything on Seaside for her daughter to do. I was wondering why NCL is better.

I heard the comedy club will be improv style.

I read about the comedy club too. Hope it's a reality, but there is live music at all the venues, plus the different theme nights on the pool deck.

The comedy club on Seaside? NCL had 2nd City troupe for many years. Not very good IMO. When they left and it was announced about 80% of the responses were they were glad to see it go but like food, entertainment can is subjective.
